Back to work tomorrow (two weeks off has zipped by), and of course, allll the things I put off doing suddenly became "urgent" - like housecleaning, putting away our few Christmas decorations, grocery shopping (oh, wait, my husband did that...). You know the feeling: holiday done and 'back to reality'. Small sigh...On the plus side, the computer issues appear to be slowly improving, like our temperatures, which were -38C this morning. Good day for staying inside, dealing with chores, and playing!
My husband's trying to fix a dripping faucet in our bathroom...just ignore the cussing you may hear. Perhaps a visit from Mr. Plumber may be in order, and we can leave my poor man to bike-related repairs only. Oh well, he offered to do it, and I'm exactly where I should be: writing a post and out of his hair. My 'supervision' wasn't winning me any brownie points..
A couple days back, when I made my little TAWS cards, I decided to practice paper-piecing a bit more, this time using an image from Priceless Joy combined with a PS sentiment. Sketch (a 'must need') inspiration is from Mojo Monday #326
It's just a simple little card (Mr. Mojo - get back here, please!), for a little someone (maybe a baby card, which is on my sister-in-law's list of 'Cards Needed")...
One of my resolutions: to explore more combinations with my patterned papers, including those I stare at and wonder what to do with, as well as those I'm 'hoarding'. Notice I didn't say I wasn't buying anymore because I blew that already. I have some sweet little numbers heading my way from a new online shop I found, located in eastern Canada, and a couple other things from a place in Calgary. Why I didn't find these before, who knows, but...excited, especially the 'almost' local one! My husband can pick things up for me (hello WRMK Envelope maker thing, and a Wink of Stella glitter pen..soon to be mine, alllll mine), and the owner is willing to scope out products, like HA cube inks! Woo hooo; fingers crossed they'll be worth her while to bring in...
Thanks so much for dropping by; your visit and comments are so appreciated!

Darling chevron paper and love the ellie :) Great use of the sketch. Stamping Gread Deals is a wonderful on line store from Ontario that has many good deals. You can sign up for their e-mails on deals too. http://www.scrappingreatdeals.com/search.php?mode=search&page=1.
Hope hubby's repair job worked out OK. I totally understand the "staying out of the way" job--LOL! Sweet card--love that little elephant! Wishing I could find one of those Wink of Stella pens--know you'll enjoy yours!
Oh man how I wish I had a handy husband! Guess I can't be too greedy since he's pretty dang awesome and makes up for it in other ways, but handy he is NOT!! I don't even let him change a light bulb!!! ha ha! So, that little elephant is one of my fave images (I need to pull her out again!) and you have made her beyond adorable! That background paper has got to be one of the prettiest I've ever seen too - what a fab way to frame sweet ellie. Another absolutely delightful creation, Carol - you are just knocking them out of the park every time!!!
It was what?!!! -38C?!! That's just insanely cold! I hope you're all keeping wrapped up nice and warm...I can tell you I would not cope with that kind if cold at all! Wow!
I do hope your tap (faucet) has been fixed, that kind of thing drives me nuts! I love that you decided to help by staying out of the way and blogging-it's the way forward ;)
Your card is gorgeous!! I am so utterly useless at using patterned paper...I try so hard but end up using plain card in the end-doh! Very jealous! :) this is a perfect baby card, I think I may have to CASE this for a first birthday card I'm seriously struggling with at present! ;)
Oh I love paper piecing and paper!! I hoard it! :D Your card is just adorable! Love the little elephant and that pretty paper you used for your background! Beeeautiful!! Hope you stay warm and get that leaky faucet fixed :) I'm lucky to have a pretty handy man too!
I think cutie patootie is the right way to describe this adorable hefalump, Carol ... so sweet! And that background DP ... awesome ... I adore it ... and may just use it as an idea for background stamping (as I used up DP for the year yesterday!!) Hope the dripping's been brought to a standstill! Hugs Anita :)
This is darling! I've learned to never say that I'm not going to buy something because then what happens I go overboard and buy tons of that thing:)
NOOOOOOOOOOO! 2 weeks really have gone by fast! Hope you have a great week of work:) I have to apologize for not stopping by more often lately-- I need more time!
So glad I had a few moments to stop by today! LOOOOOOOOOVE that little elephant and that background paper-- LOVE LOVE LOVE! Love the goal of using patterned papers… not hoarding them! I might have to join you in that resolution:) And I love that your husband is willing to pick up some goodies for you--- wish we had a local store! <3
Fab card, Carol! LOOOOOOOOVE <3
Gorgeous pink card. You will enjoy your envelope maker. I have one and the envelopes and box envelopes you can make will be endless. Thank you for your kind comments on my blog. Hugs Mrs a.
Now talk about a sweet card...this is it! I love all the pink and that little elephant is about as cute as they come! Good luck with your use of patterned paper, I love using it, so much fun to combine prints and Wink of Stella...you will be in love!
This is sooooooo dang cute (channeling Bev here). I'm in love with the colors AND the pattern in the DP. Fabulous job picking up the absolutely perfect shade of pink to compliment the DP! Love the popped up elements - creates beautiful depth. AND.....LOVE the pink & green heart...yep, another signature Carol move that takes a card from wow to WOW-WOW-WOWZERS!
...okay, please give me the scoop on the store in Calgary AND will likely be booking a trip there near the end of February/early March. Lunch date?
I usually stink at reading the posts. I usual look at the cards and such, but my eyes laid eyes on that last paragraph and it made me smile as I read how excited you were about craft goodies. I love that we can be so happy with paper :) I have the stella pen and it's awesome! Kristina Werner has a great tutorial on how to make it work!
This elephant and its home are adorable!!! Patterned paper is growing on me too...and quickly growing in my stash...it's so addictive! I'm excited for your craft room~LOL
This is darling! I love the DP you used and the hearts coming out of the trunk! I have this set and have not used it yet... I feel some Carol-inspired juju coming my way! ;)
