Just Us Girls Challenge #525~Wild Card: Inlay Die Cuts....LOVE!

Hello,

Happy February 29th!  Hope you have wonderful plans for this extra day! Me: off to a pop-up shopping event by a local retailer! Yayyyy!  Picking up some new Lawn Fawn and maybe a couple other things!

Welcome to Just Us Girls Challenge #525, where our lovely Nancy invites us to Inlay Die Cuts for this week's Wild Card theme.

We are super thrilled to have incredibly talented Betty Jacobson joining us once again as Guest Designer - but also sad that this will be her finale with us. Betty, your inspiration this month has been above and beyond! Thank you for gracing us with your talents and, hopefully, we'll see you often in the gallery! Please wander to her blog for a visit and, afterwards, drop by at my wonderful JUGS team's places: Sue, Angie, Vicki, Ina, Bobby, Nancy, Lisa, Maria and Cécile. If you have a chance to comment, that would be a real treat.

I'm sharing some 'floral' love today, complete with a little bee!  Hope you can see that these sweet  Paper Smooches Garden Greetings (except for the bee, who is buzzing overhead) are inlaid into the panel (I suspect you can because.my die-cutting is not exactly straight...sigh!!).  The panel is propped up with foam tape, so in real life, the recessing is quite evident. Such a joy to colour these; they are adorable, as are the other stamps in the collection.

That's it from me! Looking forward to seeing you go *wild* with inlay die cuts this week!

Thank you for dropping by!

STAMPlorations Throwback Thursday (February 2020)...Casing Tenia (Jazzy Paper Designs)

Hello,

A warm welcome to my second, of three, STAMPlorations Throwback Thursdays, where we select a previous card/project - one of our own or a teammate's - and 're-vision' it in three ways.

Call me daring (or perhaps, crazy) for deciding to draw inspiration from super talented, uber-cool, always something unique STAMP designer, Tenia Nelson!  Her clean, funky style is pure delight soooo...I thought I'd try channeling my 'inner Tenia' to see if I could create cards as sensational as hers.  The specific card I've selected - featuring a sticker, stencil, washi tape and her 'signature touch heart' - is the one she created for Sticker Monday:

Delightful, right!

My three cards follow Tenia's design/sketch, as well as stickers, stencils and snippets of washi (which is something I rarely use).

Ready to see how Tenia inspired me?  Let's go....

Card #1
This 'warm up' card follows Tenia's closely...

Such fun to make and, in true Tenia 'to-the-point' style, here's what I did:
  • Create panel from white card base.
  • Ink up Shutters stencil.
  • Add Good Things sentiment sticker onto a piece of paper; die cute. Add washi tape under sentiment edges; add Tenia's signature heart (same ink as stencil, colour with Nuvo sparkle pen)
  • Adhere sentiment onto image panel using foam to create dimension.
  • Adhere the image panel onto card base.

Card #2
For this card, I continued with the same elements and sketch, but used the sticker in a different fashion:

  • Create panel from white card base.
  • Ink up Shutters stencil.
  • Add one of the Mixed Media #1 stickers onto a piece of paper; die cut Coffee Cup Silhouette. Die cut two more coffee cups and stack for dimension.
  • Keep one set of inside pieces to inlay, creating the illusion of a panel.
  • Add signature heart (same ink as stencil, colour with Nuvo sparkle pen)
  • Adhere stacked coffee cup onto image panel; inlay white pieces.
  • Adhere the image panel onto card base.

Card #3
For my final card, I used two sets of stickers...

  • Create panel from white card base.
  • Adhere two stickers from Artsy Geometric Backgrounds onto a piece of cardstock. Die cut using Basic A2 Nesting Panels (I used Panel 3).
  • Add Good Things sentiment sticker onto a piece of paper; die cute. Add washi tape on sentiment corners; add signature heart. Adhere sentiment panel to panel, using foam for dimension.
  • Adhere the image panel onto card base.

I learned so much from 'copying' Tenia's style and trying to add a few different touches of my own. A huge THANK YOU to Tenia for being so incredibly inspiring.

There you have it: Throwback Thursday #2 is a wrap!  I'll be back in March!

Two reminders:
  • Shery is offering a $15 gift code to one lucky winner who will be drawn from all comments left on the Throwback Thursday post for the month, as well as from my post, here.
  • If any of the products have caught your eye, I invite you to use my discount code - STAMPGIRLCAROLM - when you shop at the STAMPlorations Online Store (some great deals to be had!)

Just Us Girls Challenge #524~Photo Inspiration...Birthday Fishes (Interactive Slider Tags)

Hello,

Welcome to Just Us Girls Challenge #524 where, as this week's hostess, I've decided we all need a visit to a tropical locale to check out the underwater scenery! From the fish, to the corals, to the water, to the rays...hope you'll find plenty to spark your creativity!

We are super thrilled to have incredibly talented Betty Jacobson joining us once again as Guest Designer! Her 'Yellow Submarine' card is absolutely amazing! As well, please visit my wonderful JUGS team: Sue, Angie, Vicki, Ina, Bobby, Nancy, Lisa, Maria and Cécile. If you have a chance to comment, that would be a real treat; they would love to know you dropped by.

When I initially selected this photo, I 'thought' I had a card idea firmly in mind...until I saw the sweet honey bee interactive slider tag by Ilda on Instagram. Using her concept as a starting point, I brought my interactive slider tag, the Under the Sea stamps/dies, polka dot stencil and waves stencil - all from Studio Katia into play. And wound up with these two...

Yes, they might be a 'bit' busy...but the photo is rife with an assortment of undersea life so...I'm good with that! I attached a smily octopus to to the top of each tag (string is behind), so once you've given him a pull he - as well as the *birthday fishes* sentiment - are revealed. LOVED making this duo!

That's it from me! Looking forward to seeing how the photo inspires you!

Thank you for dropping by!

Uniko February 2020 New Release: Introducing Spring Botanicals - Tulip

Hello,

Welcome to Day 4 of Uniko's February 2020 New Release, where another lovely flower is joining Bev's already stunning line-up: Spring Botanicals: Tulip!

I'm not very skilled when it comes to colouring 'large' images - especially flowers - so I used a go-around way of giving it some life with a simple ink blended background.  You can see the delicate detailed lines of the stamp...so incredibly pretty!

More tulips from me on Release Day!

Sending you off to hop to see the delights created by the rest of the Uniko team. Bev will be randomly selecting some comments left on the Introducing hops to win prizes!
