Color Hues Challenge #140 - Dusty Blue and Brown - Hello Friend, Love You Deerly (C and 9th - Woodland Turnabout)

And here we are: September 1st already! Oh my!

A new month means a new challenge here at Colour Hues. For Challenge #140, our wonderful leader, Nancy, invites us to play with hues of Dusty Blue and Brown for the next two weeks. Such a pretty combination for a wide variety of images and themes.

We're thrilled to have ultra-talented Michele joining us as our Guest Designer.

This combination spoke 'woodsy' to me, so out came my Concord and 9th Woodland Turnabout. Two shades of brown ink + two of dusty blue = a simple card that makes me happy. Hope the friend on the receiving end likes it.

For the next two weeks (Aug. 29 - Sept. 11), we invite you draw inspiration from anything you see in the visual prompt below: the Scrabble-style tiles, letters, numbers, words, colours, layout or even the idea of games and play. Use one element, combine several, or take the concept in an entirely unexpected direction.  Simply let us know what caught your eye and sparked your creativity.  

It's easy to see where I drew inspiration: the word 'home,' the heart and the simple design. My little house, hearts and sentiment come from Funky Fossil Designs; a collection I've had for years but use infrequently. It felt good to bring them out for a play.

Just Us Girls Challenge #838 - Anything Goes Stencil Week - Sweet Florals Happy Birthday (Ronron Designs)

Welcome to Just Us Girls Challenge #838 - Anything Goes Stencil Week. You know the routine: give your stencils a well-deserved play! Denise is the lucky hostess selecting our Winner and Shout Outs.

Betty Keefe joins us with her wrap up card as our Guest Designer; we so appreciate her sharing her fabulous creativity with us throughout August.

Soft autumn flowers, fresh greens and a touch of layering come together in this birthday card, created with the Sweet Flowering (Douce Floraison) stencil from Ronron Designs. We’re certainly spoiled for choice when it comes to layered stencils, so using this single-layer stencil was a bit of a challenge. That said, I like the slightly “loose” look and I’m okay with some of the inks overlapping. It's such a pretty field of blooms

Just Us Girls Challenge #837 - Moodboard - Celebrate Your Day Sunflowers and Butterfly

Welcome to Just Us Girls Challenge #837 where Lisa has selected a pretty sunflowers and butterflies mood board as inspiration this week.

Once again, we're delighted to have Betty Keefe joining us as our August Guest Designer.

My sunflower stencil wasn't being cooperative and, since I was down to the wire in creating my card, I opted for an embossed only version. The butterfly and enamel dots speak to the colours from the board. Even though my card isn't what I envisioned, after several stencil mishaps, it is what it is. I'm sure we've all had similar experiences of things going sideways.

Color Hues Challenge #139 - Yellow and Orange - Spooky Greetings Haunted Mansion (Better Press Society Aug 2026)

Welcome to Colour Hues Challenge #139, where Marcia has selected the summer-y, fresh combination of yellow and orange as inspiration for the next two weeks.

  We're delighted to have a previous winner Priscilla joining us as our Guest Designer.

I was so hoping that my Better Press Society August plate would arrive in time to make its debut for this challenge - and it did, by literally a day! Here it is: my first foray with the Haunted Mansion plate, stencil and sentiments. Yellow and orange are definitely a Halloween combination for me.

Because I wasn't certain if the plate would make an appearance, I created a 'just in case' card. The dies and stamped images are from Pigment Craft Co; sentiment from Taylored Expressions.

Welcome to AAA Cards Challenge #321 where we have a 1 + 1 On the Farm theme to inspire you for the next two weeks.  The concept is simple: your card should feature at least one of 'on the farm' suggestions from those in the graphic below, namely: Crops/flowers/vegetables, Animals, Vehicles, Buildings.

I may have 'cheated' just a wee bit in using two choices: my tractor = vehicle; my barn = building. Oops...but I needed both to make my little farm scene. Ephemera is from Simply Stated Design; sentiment from Taylored Expressions.

I've brought out my Mosaic Tiles Better Press Society plate. The five stencils make capturing the colours fairly easy. To break up the busy pattern, I've used a set of SB nesting dies.

Inkspirational Challenge #374 - Word Prompt - GARDEN - Thank You Garden of Daisies (Rice Paper, Stamperia)

For the next two weeks (Aug. 15 - 28) we invite you to draw inspiration from our Word Prompt: GARDEN,  Flowers, plants, harvest, garden bugs, gardening tools...whatever you have that's garden-themed works for us. Let's get 'blooming'! 

I've created a simple Garden of Daisies card featuring rice paper from Stamperia's Daisy Art collection. If you haven't tried rice paper yet, I highly recommend you do so. It's easy to work with - all you need is glue and card stock -  and the texture is positively lovely. It's the kind of paper you want to touch!

Plenty of dies - alphas, #s, stars, apple, sentiment background -  used to make my batch of ATCs where, obviously, school is the theme. Even though I've likely made them wrong (they are the correct size, so I got that part right) - because they're not super artsy the way most ATCs I see are - I had fun creating my little blackboards/chalkboards.

Color Hues Challenge #138 - Navy and Teal - Leaf Frame Happy Birthday (Better Press Society)

Another challenge - and guess what, another Better Press Society plate to share. This Leaf Frame is so pretty - and fits wonderfully with this colour combination. Actually, it would be lovely in any colour and for a wide range of occasions. Spellbinders' nesting dies and cardstock created the placeholder for the sentiment and the trio of matchy-matchy enamel dots.
