Just Us Girls Challenge #595~Wild Card - Anything but a Card....Missees ATCs

Hello,

Welcome to Just Us Girls Challenge #594, where Ina has selected - as her Wild Card choice, as July has 5 Saturdays - Anything But a Card. We're talking "Anything"...tags, ATCs, knitting/crochet, cross-stitch...whatever 'isn't' a card works!

A big Thank You to Chrissie for being our inspiring Guest Designer this month! Her finale: stellar! As are my teammates' delightful creations. Please head over to the main blog to see all the eye-candy.

Yes...Missees again. When I spotted a sweet set of ATCs created by laclaudelscrap on instagram, I knew exactly what I was going to do: case her. I had a blast playing with punch-out die cuts, washi tape, word/flower dies and papers from the collection.

That's it from me; looking forward to seeing what you make, other than a card!

Thank you for dropping by!

Inkspirational Challenge #244~Designer's Choice: Spots and/or Dots...Missees Hello

Hello,

Welcome to Inkspirational Challenge #244 where I've selected SPOTS/DOTS as my Designer's Choice.  Easy-peasy...and so much fun!

It's been a while (okay...a small while) since I've shared a Missees card so...time to do so. My Miissee comes with a polka dot background (from a new to me cardstock pack from Hunky Dory) and a dotted top/hairband from Simple Stories. Her eyes are even dots *grin*

Please check out my teammates' SPOTS/DOTS inspired delights, then play along with us!

Just Us Girls Challenge #594~Photo Week....LOVE You (Concord & 9th)

Hello

Welcome to Just Us Girls Challenge #594, where our lovely Nancy has selected this quartet of nautical-themed images as this week's photo inspiration. From stripes, to colours, to 'sea' objects/creatures, to LOVE...the possibilities are many!

Chrissie Stokes joins us once again as our July guest designer; she and the rest of the team have created fabulous cards (as always!). I'm sure you'll whate-y LOVE what you 'sea'!

Okay...enough of my feeble attempts at punniness! Despite my rather *ahem* extensive paper collection, I couldn't find any with navy or red stripes, and I didn't want to take a risk in creating my own with cardstock, knowing full well they'd wind up wonky. I also don't have a cutie-pie whale or anchor or compass either. As you can see, my initial response was to go literal. The absence of required products to do that meant putting Plan B into play...which is what you see below.  Square + LOVE, both of which are clearly evident in the photo. Changed the colours, added a 'you'...and done!

That's it from me; looking forward to how this photo inspires you (nautical or not!)

Thank you for dropping by!

Just Us Girls Challenge #593~Color Week...Yellow, Teal and Grey "You're the Best Thing Since Snail Mail" Slimline

Hello,

Welcome to Just Us Girls Challenge #593, where our lovely Angie has selected Yellow, Teal and Grey as our colour inspiration this week.

Once again, Chrissie Stokes joins us as our July Guest Designer. Her card, as well as those of my team, really highlight how pretty and versatile this palette can be.

Concord & 9th's Postmarked Turnabout and Snail Mail sets were part of my order when they had their moving sale. Soooo happy with these, as they're just a ton of fun! I figured out how to use the Turnabout on a slimline panel (three turns and some selective inking make this really quite simple). A sentiment and the little snail - the star of the stage, in my opinion - finishes it off! I'll definitely be trying this with other colour combinations at some point!

That's all from me; looking forward to how Yellow, Teal and Grey inspire you!

Thank you for dropping by!

Color Hues Challenge #22~Lime Green and Aqua...Mermaid Birthday

Hello,

And here we are: mid-July already! How did this happen? We continue to experience overly warm temperatures here in Alberta, paired with smoke from wildfires in both our province and BC. Hopefully, the weather will cool and the rains will come...

Welcome to Color Hues Challenge #17, where we're inviting you to use hues of Lime Green and Aqua as inspiration for the next two weeks. Pretty!

Surprise! I didn't use a Turnabout stamp this time! Nope! Rather, I gave three of my little collection of alcohol inks - Pool, Limeade and a smidge of Gold Alchemy -  a play date, as the combination, for me, called for something 'sea/ocean.'  And what better than a shiny, pretty alcohol-inked die cut mermaid and seaweed, paired with cardstock aqua waves and a starfish. Easy! I really need to use my inks more often!

Please visit the rest of the team, along with our guest designer, Rosemary; they've created quite the array of dazzling delights with Lime Green and Aqua:

The challenge is open until 9:00 AM (EST) on July 29th.
The winners will be posted an hour before our next challenge goes live (August 1st).
The overall winner will have the opportunity to be a
future Guest Designer!

Looking forward to seeing how this combination inspires YOU!

Thank you for dropping by!

Perfectly CAS July 2021 Challenge #17~Emboss...Soda Pop Birthday

Hello,

Welcome to Perfectly CAS July 2021 Challenge #17, where our theme this month is Embossing. This technique has many forms - heat embossing, embossing folders, embossing with dies - and likely a few more that aren't springing to mind right now.

Confession: I do not like heat embossing...messy, paper warps and, with the heat wave that has yet to abate, even the thought of turning on my heat gun makes me all sweaty...I mean, glisteny! So...I went with a lazy route: embossed lines on my MFT soda pop bottle (hard to see in the photo) and a polka-dot embossing folder circle background. Easy...and stress/heat free! Yayyy! Oh...and I also used a dot cover plate, just for a little extra interest....

Please be sure to pop by my teammates' blogs, leave them some love, then bring your Perfectly CAS Embossing creations to the gallery.
  • A friendly reminder: For this challenge, we're asking you to use one-third (aka: the rule of thirds) or less on your card designs, leaving plenty of scrumptious white space (two-thirds of your panel) to draw our eyes to to your focal image. Kylie has included an easy-to-follow explanation on the challenge blog here.
Hope you're staying safe and healthy!

Thank you for dropping by!

Inkspirational Challenge #243~Photo Challenge: Greenhouse...Garden-themed Tags Mini Slim Birthday and Envelope

Hello,

Welcome to Inkspirational Challenge #243, where we're drawing inspiration from this lovely greenhouse photo. Soooo pretty!  I love the white--washed wood...

The front and back of a pretty piece of patterned paper worked wonderfully for my take on the photo. One side has an assortment of garden-themed tags, so...how could I resist using them? Couldn't...didn't even try. I selected three tags with a birthday theme - that also fit with the garden prompt - and added them to the 'other side' of the paper.

I've used this card base/panels collection before, that also comes with an envelope die, so I made one. I had to fit in those pretty pink boots somewhere!

Please check out my teammates' photo inspired delights, then play along with us!

Just Us Girls Challenge #592~Trend Week: Recycle....Snowman Bag Planner Page

Hello,

Welcome to Just Us Girls Challenge #592, where our lovely hostess, Sue, invites us to use recycled products in our projects this week. How fun is that!

We're delighted to welcome Chrissie Stokes as our July Guest Designer. Her card, as well as those of my team, really highlight the clever creations that can be made with recycled goods.

While I have plenty of recyclables around, I kept coming back to this gift bag and no amount of hiding or ignoring it worked. Of course, I could just use it as is for a down-the-road bag for someone, but since I haven't done so for a LONG time, I figured I might as well re-purpose it...

Now, by no stretch of the imagination am I a planner/journal crafter, but I have to say that I enjoy seeing what others do with said projects. I've seen some pretty cool art journals on my internet travels. A while back - and in a moment of 'wild abandon' - I bought an Elizabeth Crafts Planner Essentials #1 die set. I used it here to transform the snowman into a planner page. AND, while doing so, I also thought about how much fun it would be to create Advent Calendar planners/albums for my niece and nephew this year, which is why you see the #1 at the top. I know that 'true' planning appears to call for layers, tags, photo frames, the whole nine yards but...this is a start of 'my' planner style. I *may* have some more planner essentials coming my way...

As you can see, my recycling is pretty simple: dismantle the bag, die-cut the image, add it to a heavier weight kraft base, use a snippet of the bag and some red cardstock (black soot distress inked on the edges) for a little tag and adda number. The other side of the bag has a similar snowman, slightly smaller. He'll be part of a planner or card somewhere along the line. Yayyy me! Now...only 24 pages to go for one of two albums. This planner stuff  'may' become addicting...

That's it from me; looking forward to seeing your recycled masterpieces!

Happy Little Stampers July 2021 Anything Goes with Dies Challenge...Vintage Telephone Thanks for Listening

Hello,

Once again, my Sugar Pea Designs Vintage Phone has come out for a play. Previously, I created a card for an aqua + black challenge; this time, I opted for pink + black. The card was created using the Cute Frame Dies from My Creative Time...

and a matching envelope using the Cute Frame Envelope. I love that this card set - which doesn't fall into 'regular' envelope sizes - comes with a companion envelope die. Such fun to create a complete ensemble...

That's it from me! Check out what my talented teammates have created, then bring out
your dies and join us in the gallery!

Happy Little Stampers July 2021 Stencil Challenge~Anything Goes...Wishing You A Paw-some Birthday (Waffle Flower Birthday Puppies)

Hello,

Welcome to Happy Little Stampers July 2021 Stencil Challenge, where we have free rein to show off our stencils. Anything goes!

Waffle Flower has the cutest Birthday Puppies set - and the best part is that stencils for colouring the puppies are available! I selected one of the puppies, die cut it (because I discovered that was the easiest way - for me, anyway - to line up the stencil/die), stenciled, stacked it with a couple more layers and assembled it on my paw-prints slimline panel. Of course, I had to add a paw-some sentiment! The panel, bone and sentiment are from one of my favourite companies: My Creative Time.

What stencils will you dazzle us with this month?
See you in the gallery!

Thank you for dropping by!

Rustic card from me: a plaid deer paired with kraft and white. Simple...and so easy to recreate!

That's it from me; please head over to the blog to see my talented teammates' festive delights.
Looking forward to seeing your Christmas makes in the gallery!

Just Us Girls Challenge #591~Word Week...Here's A Little Paper Pep Talk (Script)

Hello,

Welcome to Just Us Girls Challenge #591, where our lovely hostess, Bobby, has selected *Script* (handwriting, or perhaps even quotations from a play/movie) as this week's inspiration. Super fun!

We're delighted to welcome Chrissie Stokes as our July Guest Designer. Her card, as well as those of my team, are script-tacular!

I'm playing - finally - with a stamp/die combination from Trinity Stamps: Paper Pep Talk. It's a delightful set and have ideas percolating for transforming it into little notes for my sister-in-law to give to my niece and nephew whenever a pep talk is warranted. So cute and uplifting!

That's it from me; looking forward to seeing how Script inspires you!

Happy Little Stampers July 2021 CAS Challenge~Citrus or Zing...PFS Lemons: I Picked the Best Friend

Hello,

A very warm welcome to Happy Little Stampers July 2021 CAS Challenge, where this month's theme is Citrus/Zing. Perfect to showcase those zesty summery fruit images/inks that we have in our stash.

I finally played with a Pinkfresh Studio set - Fruitastic - that's been residing in my collection for a while; so long that I think it may be retired!  Super simple card with a pair of lemons and a sweet sentiment. Now, to play with the other fruits in the collection...

That's it from me! Please head over to the blog (perhaps with a favourite beverage - lemonade perhaps -  in hand) to see how my talented teammates - Kylie, Lindsey, Anita, Charlotte (Lady Joyful), Ma-Mi, Bozena, Lynda (loopyloo), Julie and Ceal - interpreted this month's theme. A reminder that we're looking for CAS designs.

See you in the gallery!

Color Hues Challenge #21~Red and Blue...Hi, Love You Lots (C & 9th Postmarked and Snail Mail)

Hello,

Happy Canada Day to all my Canadian friends!

The heat wave here in Alberta continues, so a very very warm welcome to Color Hues Challenge #21, where I'm inviting you to use hues of Red and Blue as inspiration for the next two weeks.

I treated myself to a few goodies from the fabulous deals offered by Concord &9th, during their recent moving sale. Two were the Postmarked Turnabout and Snail Mail, which I've used here. I'm telling you: turnabouts are amazing and they work wonderfully for colour-themed challenges. While the stamp was on my Misti, I made a few more postmarked backgrounds; I'll be sharing them soon.

Please visit the rest of the team, along with our guest designer; they've created quite the array of dazzling delights with Red and Blue:

The challenge is open until 9:00 AM (EST) on July 14th.
The winners will be posted an hour before our next challenge goes live (July 16th).
The overall winner will have the opportunity to be a
future Guest Designer!
