Inspiration card:

My most handsome Count Dracula (Spellbinders' Craft-o-ween kit from last year) came out  to play for this challenge.  I paired him with a spooky, starry night sky so he would be right in his element; after all, a vampire of his calibre needs something dramatic. He's definitely the star of the show, as Helen's plane is the star of hers.

Inkspirational Challenge #377 - Visual Prompt - Fall and Halloween Cupcakes - Plaid and Ghost Happy Halloween Wishes (Halloween Wishes, Scrapbook and Cards Today)

Welcome to Inkspirational Challenge #377 where, for the next two weeks (Sept. 26 - Oct. 9), we invite you to draw inspiration from the fabulous Fall + Halloween cupcakes image below. The Fall designs, with their warm autumn colours, pumpkins, plaid, leaves, sunflowers, acorns, mushrooms and cozy harvest details, and the "spooky" touches of the Halloween cupcakes, featuring ghosts, spiders, bats, black cats, ravens and moonlit skies, means possibilities galore. Colours and textures count, too.

Pretty obvious which two cupcakes caught my eye (okay...actually all of them did!): plaid from the top row and the ghost just beneath. Rather than two cards, I went with a combination. Plaid blocks + ghost embossed black blocks (embossing folder from Taylored Espressions) for the background, then the focal image featuring the cute ghost, witch hat and banner from the special Scrapbook and Cards Today Halloween Wishes collection. 

I think this is a first for me in making blocks. I quite like it; definitely more of that style to come.

Just Us Girls Challenge #842 - Stencil Week - Leaf Frame Happy Birthday (Better Press Society - Leaf Frame)

Welcome to Just Us Girls Challenge #842 - Stencil Week. Bring out your stencils and play along with us.

We're delighted to have Julia Aston joining us as our September Guest Designer. Thank you, Julia, for sharing your creativity and inspiration with us this month.

I've brought out my Better Press Society Leaf Frame and accompanying stencil for the challenge. The leaves are lovely in any colour; here I just used 'leftover' ink from an assortment of my blending brushes. In this case, a little went a long way in giving the leaves two-tone colours. Spellbinders' nesting dies and cardstock created the placeholder for the sentiment, along with a trio of matchy-matchy enamel dots.

Inkspirational Challenge #376 - Word Prompt - Furry Friends - Mini Schnauzer Wishing You A Beautiful Day (Unity Stamp Co., Photo Play)

Welcome to Inkspirational Challenge #376. For the next two weeks (Sept. 12 - 25), we invite you draw inspiration from our Word Prompt: FURRY FRIENDS! Lets bring out our images of dogs, cats, sheep, llamas, lions, tigers, monkeys sloths, even abominable snowmen - anything that's 'furry' and give them a starring role on our cards/projects. 

As many of you know, my furry bestie - and treasured girl - is Lily, my mini schnauzer. I love her x infinity!!

When a local Canadian crafting store brought in this stamp from Unity, it was a pretty easy decision to bring it into my collection. Seriously, how cute is this mini! Nearly as cute as my Lily!  I paired this gatefold card with a dog-themed collection from Photo Play that I've had for a while.

Just Us Girls Challenge #840 - Word Week - BOLD - Starlit Star Christmas (Chloe's Creative)

Welcome to Just Us Girls Challenge #840 where our hostess, Ina, has selected BOLD as inspiration for Word Week. Plenty of ways to interpret this - and we're excited to see how you do so.

Once again, we're delighted to have Julia Aston joining us as our September Guest Designer.

My take on BOLD features products from a new to me company from the UK - Chloe's Creative Cards, specifically: the Starlit Star (die and background stamp which I embossed with gold embossing powder),  the Starlit Foiled Paper Collection and the Starlit Merry and Bright stamp set (also gold embossed).
The size of this star/stamp -  as well as others I've purchased - are much larger than what I'm accustomed to - and I'm quite smitten with the BOLD statement they make on a card. This one is 5 x 7; the samples that inspired me were nearly 8 x 6!

A new month means a new challenge here at Colour Hues. For Challenge #140, our wonderful leader, Nancy, invites us to play with hues of Dusty Blue and Brown for the next two weeks. Such a pretty combination for a wide variety of images and themes.

We're thrilled to have ultra-talented Michele joining us as our Guest Designer.

This combination spoke 'woodsy' to me, so out came my Concord and 9th Woodland Turnabout. Two shades of brown ink + two of dusty blue = a simple card that makes me happy. Hope the friend on the receiving end likes it.
