AAA Birthday Challenge #90 - Big and Bold - Painted Rose Happy Birthday (Concord and 9th)

Hello,

Hello,

Here we are: October 1st already!! Time is zipping by ever so quickly!

Of course, a new month means a new challenge; welcome to AAA Birthday Challenge #90, where our theme is BIG AND BOLD.  Over-the-top sized mages, large die-cuts, bright colours and whatever else pops into your mind to celebrate birthdays all over your card front. In this case, bigger *is* better!

We're delighted to have Loll joining us as our Guest Designer.

My Concord and 9th Painted Rose was my selection for Big and Bold. While the colours are on the softer side, the sheer size of the rose certainly makes a presence. One of my oldies but goodies in my stash; happy to give it some love.

Please visit the main blog to see fabulous inspiration from Loll and the rest of my talented teammates.

Looking forward to seeing how Big and Bold speaks to you.

Thank you for dropping by!

AAA Birthday Challenge #89 - Use Patterned Paper - Age Gracefully (Nadine Karen Design, SSD)

Hello,

Can you believe it's September 1st already? Time is whizzing by...

New month means a new challenge: welcome to AAA Birthday Challenge #89 where we invite you to showcase Patterned Paper on your birthday cards. If you're like me, you have a stash of papers just waiting for attention.

We're delighted to have Chris joining us as our Guest Designer.

My young-in-spirit old gal is certainly celebrating in high style! This card was made using a red-and-black collection of papers and ephemera from Simply Stated Design. She's having a blast 'aging gracefully', isn't she!

Please visit the main blog to see fabulous inspiration from our guest and my talented teammates.
Looking forward to seeing your patterned paper b-day cards filling the gallery.

Thank you for dropping by!

AAA Birthday Challenge Challenge #88 - Flowers - Celebrate. It's Your Day Easel Card (Nadine Karen Design)

Hello,

Can you believe it's already August 1st? Time is flying!

Welcome to AAA Birthday Challenge #88 where, for the next month, we want to see flowers adorning your birthday cards. Single flowers, bouquets bursting with blooms, whimsical posies, elegant roses: any petaled delight you'd like to share in the gallery is sure to make us happy.

I've used a combination of patterned paper and ephemera for my floral easel card. I don't make easels often and I should. They're fun!

Please visit the main blog to see my teammates' fabulous floral delights.

Looking forward to seeing yours in the gallery.

Thank you for dropping by!

AAA Birthday Challenge #87 - For Girls - Lemon Daydream Happy Birthday (SSD - Lemon Daydream, AALL and Create)

Hello,

Welcome to AAA Birthday Challenge #87. Last month we celebrated with cards *For Boys*; for July, we're celebrating cards *For Girls.*

We're delighted to have Brenda joining us as our Guest Designer.

I've created a 'stylized' card for this challenge, using a background die from AALL & Create, decorated with papers and ephemera from Simply Stated Design's Lemon Daydream collection. . A sentiment from Spellbinders pairs wonderfully with the pretty pink + yellow feminine images.

Please visit the main blog to see fabulous inspiration from our guest and my teammates.

Looking forward to seeing your For Girls birthday cards in the gallery.

Thank you for dropping by!

AAA Birthday Challenge #86 - For Boys - Hockey-themed Birthday Celebrations (Ronron Designs Rice Paper, SSD, 49 and Market)

Hello,

Welcome to AAA Birthday Challenge #86, where we invite you to create birthday cards *For Boys*.  Young or old, let's spend the month celebrating the special guys in our lives.

We're delighted to have Leslie joining us as our Guest Designer.

My 'For Boys' birthday card is a nod to my hockey-playing nephew (who, by the way, is now 14 and is taller than me! ACK!!) and his teammates.

The focal image features a new-to-me product — rice paper — from Canadian company Ronron Designs. I absolutely loved working with this medium and can already tell I’ll be exploring it more; their collection of rice papers, stamps and stencils is fantastic. The background paper comes from my custom hockey collection by Simply Stated Design; the chipboard sentiment is from the 49 & Market Glimmer & Glee collection.

Please visit the main blog to see fabulous inspiration from our guest and my teammates.

Looking forward to seeing your For Boys birthday cards in the gallery.

AAA Birthday Challenge #85 - Anything Birthday Goes - We Are 7 - Floral Celebrate (AALL and Create)

Hello,

Can you believe it's May 1st already? Ohmyword, the days, weeks and months are traveling quickly!

Today, AAA Birthday Challenge #85 is launching a month long celebration of our 7th birthday. SEVEN!  And, as a special gift to you, it's an Anything Goes theme.

We're delighted to have a special Guest Designer - Gundi (Papierelle) - joining us. Welcome Gundi.

My card features a beautiful sheet of paper from AALL and Create's Sunroom Drift 6 x 6 collection. These double-sided papers are gorgeous - so much so that it's hard to use them! LOL!
The postage die is from Prism Studio; the better press sentiment from Pink Fresh Studio.

Please visit the main blog to see fabulous inspiration from our guest designer and my talented teammates.

Hope you'll celebrate our 7th birthday with us!

Thank you for dropping by!

AAA Birthday Card Challenge #84 - Use Washi Tape - Let's Celebrate Florals and Butterflies (Layer It Up Washi - AALL and Create)

Hello,

Happy April 1st...already!

A new month means a new challenge; welcome to AAA Birthday Card Challenge #84 where we're inviting you to make Washi Tape a feature on your cards. So many varieties; so many ways to use it.

We're delighted to have Silke joining us as our Guest Designer.

My card features a new-to-me product: Layer It Up Washi Tape from AALL & Create (also a new-to-me company). Simply line up four strips of the washi and watch the beautiful florals and butterflies image emerge. Of course, the washi can be used as 'simple' strips - which I've done on the background panel - but isn't the effect of layering it wonderful?  I feel like such an artist! LOL! I have a couple rolls of this tape with different patterns; looking forward to spending time crafting with them.

Please visit the main blog to see fabulous inspiration from my teammates.

Looking forward to seeing how you showcase washi tape on your cards.

Thank you for dropping by!

AAA Birthday Challenge #83 - Use Die Cuts - Celebrate in Your Own Style (Sculpted Scripted Floral - SB)

Hello,

Welcome to AAA Birthday Challenge #83. This month's theme: use die cuts. Easy peasy, because we all have - and love - dies! Once again, let's celebrate birthdays in style! 🎉

We're delighted to have Caroline (KISS) joining us as our Guest Designer.

In a random act of 'sale' shopping at the end of December, I purchased a variety of papers, ephemera, stamps and yes, dies from the Spellbinders Beautifully Imperfect collection. The Sculped Scripted Floral stamps/dies, along with a sheet of patterned paper, are making their debut here. The stamps bring a scripted element to the petals, which is rather cool. A few stamped ink splatters finish up the card.

Please head to the main blog to see fabulous inspiration from my talented team.

Then, join us with your die-cut birthday-themed card.
Looking forward to seeing you in the gallery.

Thank you for dropping by!

AAA Birthday Challenge #82 - Slimline - Coffee Happy Birthday (SSD, WF)

Hello,

Welcome to AAA Birthday Challenge #82. This month, we invite you to create slimline/mini slimline birthday cards. Once again, let's celebrate birthdays in style! 🎉

We're delighted to have Cathy R joining us as our Guest Designer.

My kraft based mini slimline features coffee-themed ephemera from Simply Stated Design, paired with a birthday sentiment from Waffle Flower.  A few enamel dots and...done. I have a coffee-loving friend who, I hope, will enjoy receiving this card as much as I had fun creating it.

Please head to the main blog to see fabulous inspiration from my talented team.

Then, join us with a SLIMLINE/MINI SLIMLINE birthday-themed card of your own.
Looking forward to seeing you in the gallery.

AAA Birthday Challenge #81 - Winter Birthday - This Card is Full of Birthday Wishes Arctic Critters (Simply Stated Design - November Patreon Bundle)

Hello,

Happy New Year! As we welcome 2026, I want to express how much I appreciate that you're part of our creative journey here at AAA Birthday Challenge. Your inspiring cards serve to fuel my inspiration as well. Hopefully, a joyous year of crafting comes to fruition for all of us.

Welcome to AAA Birthday Challenge #81. This month, we invite you to create Winter Birthday cards and projects. Think snowy vistas, Arctic critters, snowflakes, winter colours and cozy cold-weather items like mittens, hats and scarves—so many delightful possibilities for our January theme.

We're delighted to have Cathy R joining us as our guest designer.

A winter scene features prominently on my card: a wintry sky, snowflakes and an ephemera focal cluster of Arctic animals, dressed in cozy hats and scarves. (Simply Stated Design - November Patreon collection).  A Spellbinders Better Press sentiment completes the birthday theme.

Please drop in at the main blog to see wonderful inspiration from Cathy and the rest of my amazing team.

Looking forward to seeing your winter birthday cards filling the gallery!

The challenge is open until January 31st; plenty of time to join us.

AAA Birthday Card Challenge #80 - Box Card - Age Is Just A Number Box Card (Simply Stated Design)

Hello,

And suddenly it's December 1st! New month; new challenge. Welcome to AAA Birthday Card Challenge #80 where we're inviting you to create a BOX card or a SHADOW BOX card.  Something a little different in the design department, for sure!

We're delighted to have Sigrid joining us as our Guest Designer.

I chose an explosion box card for my first ever box card style; ohmyword! I'm smitten! I was  inspired by a clear, concise, easy-to-follow video tutorial created by my fellow Canadian friend, Karen, which you can find here. My papers and ephemera come from the Age Is Just A Number collection from my favourite Canadian company - Simply Stated Design

The box with the lid on...

and here's what happens when the lid is removed. The box has plenty of room to include a bag of candies, a small gift, a gift card...whatever fits into the 4" x 4" space.

I'm super happy with how this trial run went; I hope seeing it brings a smile to your face.

Plans are already in the works for another...and another...and another.

Please head over to the main blog to see wonderful creations from our Guest Designer and my talented teammates.

Plenty of time to join us, as the challenge runs until Dec. 31st.

See you in the gallery!

To all our AAA Birthday Card Challenge players: may have a most Merry Christmas and wonderful holiday season!

Thank you for dropping by!

We' re delighted to have Sigrid joining us as our Guest Designer.

How do you like my *Rad Old Lady* rockin' out her rendition of Happy Birthday? She may be older, but she's still got what it takes to bring life to the party. Of course, she's a 'project base' from my favourite company of late: Simply Stated Designs. She's cool!

Please head over to the main blog to see fabulous music-themed birthday inspiration from my talented teammates. Then, bring out your 'music' and join rock out with us in the gallery!

AAA Birthday Cards Game #78 - Ombre - Modern Design Blocks Happy Birthday Wishes (PFS)

Hello,

Welcome to AAA Birthday Cards Game #78, where, for the month of October, we'd like to see Ombre featured on your cards

We're delighted to have Karen Walker joining us as our Guest Designer this month.

Although my card looks a bit splotchy and, perhaps, slightly disheveled, I was aiming for a stylized version of ombre. I inked the Pinkfresh Studios glimmered image with three shades of blue ink, trying for light, medium and dark in each of the 'sections. In real life, the effect is pretty and definitely has an ombre vibe.

Even if my photo isn't great, I think you get the drift of my intention - and perhaps ombre in different portions of your image may serve as inspiration for you.

Please head over to the main blog to see ombre-awesomeness from my teammates.

Looking forward to seeing how this challenge inspires you.

The gallery is open all month; see you there.

AAA Birthday Challenge #77 - Snarky - Crap, I Forgot Your Birthday Cat (Simply Stated)

Hello,

Welcome to AAA Birthday Challenge #77 where we're inviting you to spice up your birthday cards by being SNARKY! Yep - perhaps some 'choice' language, a bit of teasing,  a snippet of sarcasm - anything to generate a hearty guffaw is perfect for playing along with us.

My card captures the cat-astrophe of realizing you’ve missed someone’s birthday. I selected the wide-eyed, expression-of-shock cat, from Simply Stated Design, to be the star of the show and paired it with some cheeky speech bubbles. A little bit of sass; a little bit of snark.

Please head over to the main blog to see the fabulous SNARKY cards created by my wonderful teammates. Then, join us in the gallery with a snark or two of your own.

The challenge is open until Sept. 30th; plenty of time to play along.

Thank you for dropping by!

AAA Birthday Challenge #76 - Sport - Hockey Happy Birthday (Photoplay)

Hello,

August 1st already...can you believe it! Of course, a new month also means a new challenge: welcome to AAA Birthday Challenge #76 where we're inviting you to create birthday cards featuring SPORTS. Everything - from team sports to solo sports to 'hobby' sports and so much more - is fair 'game' for the gallery (sorry...trying to be punny).

We're delighted to have Cathy R joining us as our Guest Designer.

My nephew plays hockey - defense, to be precise - so of course, I made my card with this sport and him in mind. Hockey images are such a challenge to find, so I'm fortunate to have found some by Photoplay. The puck, gloves, skates, player and 'defense' are stickers; I cut out letters from other stickers to cobble together the sentiment. Of course, the background is my much-loved Waffle Flower postage collage die.

Please head over to the main blog to see fabulous cards from our guest designer and the rest of my team. Then, share your sports-themed birthday card with us; excited to see what you'll create.

The challenge is open until August 31st; plenty of time to join us.

Hello,

Happy July 1st and Happy Canada Day to my Canadian friends.

New month means a new challenge over at AAA Birthday; for Challenge #75, we're inviting you to create cards to celebrate summer birthdays.

We're delighted to have Pauline joining us as our Guest Designer.

Watermelons  = summer vibes.

This arrangement - a rub-on transfer from Graphic 45 -  conveys that vibe beautifully. This is but one of several wonderful watermelon-themed images from the three-sheet collection. I'm already searching for spaces and places to showcase the others.

Please head over to the main blog to see fabulous Summer Birthday cards from my talented teammates. Then, bring out your summery-sensations and celebrate with us.
