Hello,
We are posting our Colour Hues Challenge #72 a day early as part of a very special hop held in memory of our dear friend, fellow card maker and Design Team member, Lindsey Martin-Penny, who sadly passed away last year from a rare and aggressive form of Ovarian Cancer.
September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and Lindsey’s husband, Burke, thought it would be a great time to sell off her many craft supplies. All of the proceeds will to towards Lindsey’s Legacy Fund for Clear Cell Ovarian Cancer Research in cooperation with The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
The purpose of this hop is to honor Lindsey, to celebrate her life and all that she loved, as well as to spread the word to raise funds for Clear Cell Ovarian Cancer Research. To find out the many ways you can help click HERE.
In honor of Lindsey, the team, along with guests from Seize the Birthday, has created a variety of cards using her favorite color combo of Purple and Red.
Anyway...the tears are falling. My red-and-purple card features my current obsession: Tim Holtz's Artsy leaves paired with the Texture Fades Layered Dots embossing folder. In real life, the card is quite pretty, especially with the shine of the gold leaf veins. I know Lindsey would love this set as much as I do. Because she was always wonderful in making/sending birthday cards to friends and family, near and far, that's the route I went, too.
No words can express how deeply I miss her every. single. day. She was a beacon of light in my life; one who supported, encouraged, shared (her book recommendations and recipes were the best!) and, perhaps above all else, made me laugh. Her wit, sense of humour and all-around friendship were daily highlights. As for her crafting skills? Only awe-mazing. I'm lucky to have several of her fabulous cards in my home; a very special collection, indeed.

Miss you and love you, always and in always, my friend.
Next on the hop is the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers. Please be sure to leave a comment along your hopping journey where you'll learn more about Lindsey’s life, her loves and her legacy.
You can find the hop list and details at Emily Leiphart’s blog.
Thank you for hopping with us. We're looking forward to seeing what you make for this challenge using Lindsey’s favorite colors.
The challenge will be open until September 28th @ 9 AM EST!

Love these leaves in this color combo and the fun embossed background! Julia xx
A lovely tribute to a much missed friend Carol. I'm sure Lindsey would love this simple design. :)
Carol, Your words are absolutely perfect and exactly how I felt about Lindsey too. Although I am not fortunate to have any of her recipes, perhaps you can share one of your favs. Such a pretty card and tribute.
Carol, I started crying the morning before the hop went live and haven't been able to stop. That's why it's taken me two days to get here. I nodded as I read your beautiful words. I often make the recipes Lindsey shared with me and when my family sits down to eat, we always clink our glasses to her. She would've adored this card, as do I! And, you're right, she was so good about sending the cards she made. 💜❤️
This is gorgeous and so are your words on Lindsey.
My heart hurts and goes out to you and all that knew and loved Lindsey. You've made a stunning card in her honor, Carol.
Hugs,
Stef
Such a beautiful tribute to Lindsey...makes me a little jealous that I didn't get the pleasure of really knowing her! Your card is so pretty and CAS perfection Carol...I love the addition of the gold with the red and purple and how striking it is against that lovely embossed white background! Wonderful card my friend!! Hugs. :0)
Carol, my heart goes out to you with the loss of your dear friend. The tribute you've written has touched my heart. The leaves and delicate gold veins are lovely. They look great with the added textures and pretty colors!
For those of us who didn't know Lindsey as well as you do, these stories are a window into what made her such a wonderful friend! Your card is gorgeous--I love those leaves and the gold veins are so striking!
This is just gorgeous Carol!!! The gold really makes this very elegant. And I see you went a plum route as well on one leaf. LOL!!! Hugs.
This is gorgeous Carol! I love the gold on your bold leaves. There's so many things I wish I had talked to Lindsey more about. Thanks for sharing your memories.
Carol as I'm doing the hop I the tears are running down my cheeks. Like you I'm miss our friend every single day. You knew Lindsey online but I assure you she was everything you saw in her in real life. Your card is truly lovely and she would have loved it too!
