Hello,
Welcome to
Just Us Girls Challenge #592, where our lovely hostess, Sue, invites us to use recycled products in our projects this week. How fun is that!
We're delighted to welcome Chrissie Stokes as our July Guest Designer. Her card, as well as those of my team, really highlight the clever creations that can be made with recycled goods.
While I have plenty of recyclables around, I kept coming back to this gift bag and no amount of hiding or ignoring it worked. Of course, I could just use it as is for a down-the-road bag for someone, but since I haven't done so for a LONG time, I figured I might as well re-purpose it...
Now, by no stretch of the imagination am I a planner/journal crafter, but I have to say that I enjoy seeing what others do with said projects. I've seen some pretty cool art journals on my internet travels. A while back - and in a moment of 'wild abandon' - I bought an Elizabeth Crafts Planner Essentials #1 die set. I used it here to transform the snowman into a planner page. AND, while doing so, I also thought about how much fun it would be to create Advent Calendar planners/albums for my niece and nephew this year, which is why you see the #1 at the top. I know that 'true' planning appears to call for layers, tags, photo frames, the whole nine yards but...this is a start of 'my' planner style. I *may* have some more planner essentials coming my way...
As you can see, my recycling is pretty simple: dismantle the bag, die-cut the image, add it to a heavier weight kraft base, use a snippet of the bag and some red cardstock (black soot distress inked on the edges) for a little tag and adda number. The other side of the bag has a similar snowman, slightly smaller. He'll be part of a planner or card somewhere along the line. Yayyy me! Now...only 24 pages to go for one of two albums. This planner stuff 'may' become addicting...
That's it from me; looking forward to seeing your recycled masterpieces!
Thank you for dropping by!

What a cool use of that beautiful bag! And now you have a new creative path to work on!
The perfect way to recycle that cute Christmas bag! Love how you added the heart and beautiful shading with the soot ink. Your niece and nephew are going to love their advent calendar/planners!
This just confirms the message I sent to you on messenger. You are so creative! I can see why this darling snowman couldn't escape you as he is just darling. As you said...one down 24 to go. Great job with the challenge this week! Take care.
I love that snowman, Carol, and am so glad you made him into a planner page that will be around for a long time. The kids will be thrilled with Advent planners and you will have fun creating them I'm sure.
This made a gorgeous Christmas card! Way to re-use ;)
Simple but stunning how you created this beautiful snowman card. Love the itty bits you added to make it just yours. Great recycling and someone is going to love that card come Christmas.
I love this! And if you decipher this whole planner business, you can give me lessons. ;)
What a lovely planner page! This snowman is so cute and that little red heart makes a perfect addition. I would truly love to see the other pages.
