You're Magical Cross-Stitch Unicorn...Just Us Girls Challenge #441~Colour Week

Hello,

I've been 'sort of'' home for three days (running errands, taking care of chores, generally re-acquainting myself with our house...) and apparently, Mr. Mojo was either left behind at our vacation spot or at the bike races from last weekend! Feeling rusty!  We're also at races this weekend (and the next and the next...straight through until nearly the end of October...and I LOVE it!), so perhaps he'll hitch a lift with one of the riders (or find a bike of his own to pedal). Sure hope so; I don't enjoy waning creativity!

My Waffle Flower Stitched Unicorn set pretty much fell into my lap during my which-image-to-use selection session. Given the current cross-stitch on cards trend, how could I resist? (Whilst on our travels, I "may" have invited a cross-stitch panel to join my collection, as cross-stitching was my craft of choice for years.  Keen to try my hand at stitching on paper once I'm a bit more settled...)

Isn't this unicorn darling? And the little hearts! Gotta love when the stamps do all the heavy lifting! Hmmmm...wonder if I might be able to transpose these images into 'real' cross-stitch...on my planning agenda for sure!

Uniko Studio Challenge #47~Photo Inspiration (optional twist: BIRTHDAY)

Welcome to Uniko Studio Challenge #47~Photo Inspiration, with the optional twist: Birthday. Once again, a gorgeous photo that we hope will inspire your creativity to join us. Flowers, grasses, colours, a vase, a suitcase: all kinds of elements to spark ideas, along with a variety of techniques with which to showcase them.

Joining us is our wonderful Guest Designer - Sue - whose  winning card from the last challenge really caught our eye here at Uniko. Her card is lovely and if you go visit her blog you'll find an abundance of amazing inspiration.

My mojo is a bit rusty, having been away from crafting for 15 days (that's quite the stretch for me!), so I decided to go with something simple in pairing new products with older ones. Featured here: Natures Treasures II stencil (embossed); Beautiful Blooms 1 and Simply Said Blocks. I think the embossed leaves add a little 'oomph' to the panel, without being distracting...

Many Thanks Mandala Stencil...Just Us Girls Challenge #440~Trend Week

A warm welcome to Just Us Girls Challenge #440~Trend Week, where our amazing Angie has selected Stencils as the inspiration trend. I love stencils...really love...super love...

If you've come from - or are heading to - the challenge blog, you'll see an array of fabulous cards from our May Guest Designer, sweet talented Patti,from Stationery Styles, and my talented teammates: Sue, Angie, Vicki, Ina, Bobby, Nancy, Lisa, Maria.

Yes, you've seen this stencil before - the Mandala from Studio Katia - BUT, I love it and had to showcase it again. Prior to adding colour, I embossed the stencil to raise the image. Three inks did the trick in creating a 'rainbow-ish' effect: Picked Raspberry, Mustard Seed and Mermaid Lagoon. The Picked Raspberry + Mustard Seed = orange; Mustard Seed + Mermaid Lagoon = green; Mermaid Lagoon + Picked Raspberry = purple. Isn't that cool?  Where did I learn this, you may be asking? From none other than incredibly talented, ultra sweet Amy Rysavy, of Prairie, Paper and Ink fame. Her videos are outstanding and the bonus: she's Canadian! Yayyyy!

Today, I'm sharing the first, of what I hope will be many, sets of cards created for lovely Shannon, who designs *the* most gorgeous 'healing' bracelets/necklaces EVER! You can see what I mean here (Facebook) and here (Instagram).  I've been wearing a trio of bracelets for the past several months...love them! And yes, the properties of the stones she selected for me do work! (Her prices are fabulous and I believe she ships worldwide, too.)

I'm honoured that she wants some of my cards to send with orders...and given the nature of her creative ventures, I think the Breathe image from Penny Black is a nice fit...

My card was 110% inspired by Sandy Allnock's card here; pretty much a total case of her cute partying MFT Birthday Chicks, with the only difference being that mine are rainbow. Rainbow chicks...uh huh! Too much fun and a great way to practice my copic colouring (heaven knows I need all the practice I can get!).

My obsession love affair with embossing with stencils continues!  Such an easy technique with wonderful results, especially when using STAMPlorations fabulous range of beautiful stencils!  This card was easy-peasy to create...emboss the panel, add some colourful butterflies, cut out a frame for the sentiment. Ta dahhh...a little 'something' to brighten someone's day...
