Color Hues Challenge #95 - Blue and Pink - Witchin' Heels Happy Haunting (Spellbinders)

Hello,

Already mid-September and time to launch Colour Hues Challenge #95, where our lovely hostess, Cindy, has selected hues of Blue and Pink as inspiration for the next two weeks. Such a pretty combination to bridge that snippet of time before summer ends and fall begins (as it has done here).

We're delighted to have Ishani joining us as our Guest Designer for this challenge.

I'm in full-blown Halloween mode so, naturally, that's what I've brought to the challenge. Spellbinders' Witchin' Heels has become a favourite this season and I'm showcasing her once again. Various shades of blue and pink distress inks for the night and moon light sky; pink cardstock for the hat, shoes (because all well-dressed witches need pink shoes in their wardrobe) and pumpkin.

Please head over to the main blog to see fabulous inspiration from our guest and my teammates.
Looking forward to seeing your takes on Pink and Blue.

The challenge will be open until Sept. 29th @ 9:00 am EDT.

The winners will be posted an hour before our next challenge and the overall
winner will have the opportunity to be a future Guest Designer.

Thank you for dropping by!

AAA Colourful Challenge #8 - Guest Designer - Autumn Greetings Artsy Leaves

Hello,

A while back, one of my cards was selected as a winner over at a new, favourite challenge: AAA Colourful. Along with the thrill of the win was a request to be a guest designer for a future challenge. Of course I said YES!

Today, marks the launch of that 'future' challenge I mentioned AND, with it, my guest designer showcase.

Welcome to AAA Colourful Challenge - Colourboard #8, where we have this incredible image as inspiration for the next month.

Yes, initially I found the image daunting but, after plenty of staring and reflecting, I realized it's filled with Fall/Halloween colours. Once that realization struck, the ideas began to flow, which is a challenge in and of itself! So many directions I wanted to explore (and may well do!), but finally, I decided on what you see below.

In a nutshell:
  • My Tim Holtz Artsy Leaves were blended with an assortment of orange distress inks - and zhuzhed up with a couple sprays of Spiced Marmalade Distress Spritz for extra shimmer.
  • Waffle Flower's Postage Collage die worked a charm to capture the various hues of grey from the image. Three shades of cardstock simply cut, reassembled, adorned with a leaf and attached to a black background.
  • The orbs in the images were translated onto my card with enamel dots (greys, black, orange and white). The ones that look yellow in my photo are actually a pale green, similar to that in the upper portion of the photo.
I'm looking forward to seeing how you interpret the colourboard in your unique fashion. Possibilities galore!

Please head over to the main challenge blog to see the design team's incredible creations.
The Link is open until October 14th; plenty of time for you to join in the fun.

Thank you to the AAA Colourboard Challenge team for inviting me as your guest.
I am deeply honoured!

Thank you for dropping by!

AAA Colourful Challenge - Colourboard #7 - Witchin' Heels Trick or Treat (Spellbinders)

Hello,

Dropping in on this cool, rainy, dreary Alberta afternoon to share my card for AAA Colourful Challenge - Colourboard #7

Once September roll around (and August, too, to be honest), I'm thinking Halloween, so that's the direction I went. Below the colour swatch - thank you to the Colourboard designers for including this - are the inks I used to create my Witchin' Heels Frightful and Delightful scene.

Salty Ocean            Tumbled Glass         Peacock Feathers      Old Paper               Buttercream

I also added a bit of Prize Ribbon and Wild Honey to deepen the edges - as we see they are in the photo - of the sky and shadows of the moon, respectively. Hope the moon's 'glow' (my take on the sun's reflection in the image) is sufficiently visible - it's a combination of the Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers and Old Paper.

AAA Colourful...you're just way tooooo much fun!
And so too, is Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge - September 2024, where I'm also sharing my card.

Just Us Girls Challenge #744 - Word Week - Hope - Love, Joy, Hope, Peace (TH Christmas Cutouts)

Hello,

Welcome to Just Us Girls Challenge #744, where our lovely hostess, Sue, has selected HOPE as inspiration for Word Week. Hope...so many directions to go with this simple, yet powerful word.

Once again, we're delighted to have Nancy joining us as our September Guest Designer.

My many Tim Holtz/Sizzix dies need attention; today's card features Christmas Cutouts. A quick search of examples lead me to this card, created by one of Tim's incredibly talented designers, Cathie Cowles. I full-on cased her. Busier than my usual but once in a while, it's okay to step out of the comfort zone.

Looking forward to seeing how *HOPE* will appear on your cards/projects.

Thank you for dropping by!

Inkspirational Challenge #324 - Designer's Choice - Make Your Mark - Thank You So Mush (Angie Bloom Design from Crop and Create 2023)

Hello,

Welcome to Inkspirational Challenge #324 where, or the next two weeks, we invite you to draw inspiration from Nonni's Designer's Choice: MAKE YOUR MARK. How do you "make your mark," you may ask? Simple: by adding colour to your images/die cuts with mediums like markers, pencils/crayons, watercolour/paints and even inks if you're using colouring/layering stencils.   Note: colouring stencils + inks qualify for this challenge.

I discovered this Angie Blom Mushroom Love digital image, from Crop and Create Fall 2023, in my stash. Given the popularity of mushrooms in card-making of late, it seemed timely to give it attention. I queued up Angie's video and, more or less, distress-ink watercoloured along with her. Of course, her sample is much better but I'm okay with how this turned out, especially since I'm not one for either digital images or watercolour. A scallop-edge panel die for some 'interest' and ta dah...I'm made my mark!

Looking forward to seeing how Nonni's Designer's Choice inspires you!

Just Us Girls Challenge #743 - Color Week - Blue, Rust and Gold - Wax Seal and Wildflowers Mini Slimline Note Card (Spellbinders, TH Wildflowers)

Hello,
Welcome to Just Us Girls Challenge #743, where our lovely hostess, Bobby, has selected Blue, Rust and Gold for this week's colour challlenge. I love this combination!

We're delighted to have Nance Salkeld as our guest designer for September. You'll see her creativity here for the next few weeks, as well as at her blog, SoulStampin'

I have a 'thing' for wax seals and, because I have *ahem* a few in my stash, they need to get plenty of play time. To that end, whenever possible, I'm going to add them to - or make them stars of - my cards for the next while. Today, you're seeing the oh-so-pretty Sunflower seal used to gather a trio of wildflowers from one of Tim Holtz's collections. Since I had the seals out, I made three more with light blue, gold and rust wax beads...so pretty.

Blue, Rust and Gold: how will they inspire you?

Color Hues Challenge #94 - Rust and Green - Bouquet of Poppies Birthday Greetings (Altenew)

Hello,

A warm welcome to September and, with it, a new colour combination for Colour Hues Challenge #94, where I've selected hues of Rust and Green as inspiration for the next two weeks. Warm, earthy, rustic, metallic, Rust offers much versatility. Pair it with different shades of green and you have a combination that is utterly beautiful. Little wonder we see this duo featured in weddings, home decor, fabrics and so much more. Even Mother Nature loves this combination, bringing it to us in a variety of flowers and plants.

For fabulous Rust and Green card inspiration, look no further than the wonderful creations by our guest designer, Colleen, and my oh-so-talented teammates.

I'm smitten with the Bouquet of Poppies collection from Altenew and, after some internet sleuthing, found inspiration to use it - yet again - from a rust + green poppies fabric. The poppies are blended with a combination of Rusty Hinge distress ink and Terra Cotta ink from Pigment Craft Co. The leaves also feature a Pigment Craft Co. ink: Fiscus. The panel dies are from Studio Katia; the frame, cut using one of the collection's oval dies, is a burnished gold. Final touch: a sentiment from Taylored Expressions.

The challenge will be open until September 14th @ 9:00am (EDT)

The winners will be posted an hour before our next challenge and the overall
winner will have the opportunity to be a future Guest Designer.

Looking forward to seeing your Rust and Green creations in the gallery.
