As our wonderful friend, Darnell often notes, we have whooshed through another two weeks (major whooshing going on...we're already having winter *grin*!) since the last Inkspirational Challenge, and here we are with a new one: Inkspirational Challenge #65~Word Prompt~Flight
Joining the DT today is our immensely talented guest designer, Cornelia, who will wow you with a duo of delightful flight-inspired cards. Of course, the rest of the team has some dazzlers as well, and I know they'd love if you'd fly in and leave them some love:
I confess: some conundrums with this challenge, on a couple of levels.
Here's the issue: my first card (yeah...two again...), while connecting well to "flight", has but a fleeting link to the challenge name: INKspirational. Die cuts all the way on this baby, except for a whisper of ink on the sentiment and the paper plane's flight pattern:
The plane and hearts are the "Joy Craft" metallic-ish paper. Call me addicted!
Somehow, that didn't seem 'quite' right, so I went with a second card that featured INK. The 'flight' link - in an obvious fashion - however, seemed to have flown out the window, although I could compose a fairly persuasive argument - with support from good ol' reliable Wikipedia - that my card is an interpretation of "flight feathers".
Love x Love these STAMPlorations feathers
See what I mean? Card 1 aligns with the prompt reasonably well, but misses out on "ink"; Card 2 features "ink", with a loose interpretation of the prompt. Rather than make a decision, I simply defaulted to my usual response when faced with indecision: choose both (reminds me of when my mom asks Pa, "Would you like apple pie or cherry?", to which he responds,"Yes," No decision required.). Somewhere in the middle of these two, I reckon the challenge has been met...sort of....
I'm also sending Card 2 over to ColourQ Challenge #258, as the feathers are a merging of Blackberry Bliss and Hello Honey (BB is the background cardstock), mixed with "as close as possible" other inks for the saffron and grey.
Head over to Inkspirational Challenges, scope out the inspiration cards, then connect with your 'inner pilot to create a card to share in the gallery! Excited to see how "Flight" inspires you! We will be choosing a top pick's from this challenge and inviting one entrant to join us as a Guest Designer.
Thanks so much for dropping by; your visit and comments add sparkle to my day!

Absolutely stunning cards. LOVE all those stitched dies (they are my absolute favourites). The two little hearts are so sweet up in the clouds. Your feathers are breathtaking!! xx
I think you are too hard on yourself. :) Both cards suit the theme - the first demonstrates flight and does have an inked sentiment and air trail. The other is very inky and birds use feathers to fly...see nailed! Either way, it means we get a double dose of creativity from you and that is never a bad thing. :)
Beautiful cards, Carol! I think they are both great for the challenge. I love the inking of the feathers and the cute scene of the first card. xxx
Such a sweet card die cut card and that is fine for Inkspirational. And the second the feathers are inked up beautifully. I think feathers count for flight for sure!
Your sky scene is so sweet, Carol ... it still has ink! The feathers are lovely ... such a gorgeous blend of colours and fabulous against the neutral background! Hugs, Anita :)
You are too fun :) Way to take two different approaches to cover the challenge reqs. Darling first card and loving the feather colours.
I absolutely love the feathers, they are gorgeous!
Glad that you chose to show us both of these cards....because, in my opinion, they both work! Loving the sweetness of the paper plane (especially the heart) and love the elegance of the feather card (GORGEOUS colors!).
Totally loved reading your post! Has the snow melted yet? Ca-razy eh?
Well good for you to go with both! I think they are both fabulous and I would have had a hard time choosing too. The first one is so cute and whimsical while the second one is more elegant and classy, both excellently done my friend! Happy weekend! :)
The weeks are whooshing by here at a fast rate of speed too! Don't send your winter down to me Carol, I'm not ready for that yet!! lol We haven't had snow, but we are experiencing fall at this time, which is a little early. I know old man winter will be early in coming this year, so ready or not, here it comes. sigh I love both of your cards Carol and think they both fit the "flight" bill perfectly! Those feathers are just gorgeous and I love the colors you used on them. I also love your paper plane, well you know how I feel about MCT products. lol Love both and I think you did a fabulous job! Now on the pie thing, my husband would say "yes" too just like your father did. lol Hugs, Brenda
I have to agree with Kylie - you are too hard on yourself! There is ink on the first adorable card (don't think there is a rule about how much ink you have to use...). The feathers on the second card look gorgeous in those inks. Love how we almost always get at least two cards per post from you! So inspiring!
These are beautiful! I love the first card. Those clouds look amazing and I love how you layered them over the blue. Very fun use of "flight feathers" for the second one. Your use of ink on the feathers looks great.

Thanks for the praise, Carol - great cards - so different and both are beautiful - I do like your first one a tad better - its just fun!
Wow...just amazing. What a wonderful pair of cards. Sorry to be so far behind in commenting...hoping to get caught up tonight. I love your cards, that sweet paper airplane card is adorable! I love with all the clouds and the little red hearts, too darn cute. And your sweet feather card in those amazing colors...you hit this one out of the park. I have to agree with other commenters, you are way too hard on yourself. Both of your cards are amazing, simply amazing. Thank you so much for playing along with us at ColourQ, hope to see you again next week.
The composition of your paper plane card is stunning - and it's such a happy card! The colour blend on the feathers is gorgeous.
Again two beauties! And I like your approach to decision-making, even though I have to confess I rarely make two cards (if I feel that the first one isn't entirely spot on). I haven't decided yet if it's laziness or me not wanting to spent more crafting supplies … oh, those pesky decisions ;)
2 totally different but totally fabulous cards! I love the scene you have created with your die cuts and those inked feathers are just gorgeous! Cx
They are both fantastic cards, Carol! Love the paper plane one especially. It's so well put together. Love the way you inked the feathers on the second card. Love them! :-)
Oh Carol these are both fabulous, so I am in the the consensus that they both work! They are both very different takes on flight but both have the right stuff. Remember that it is really hard to let die cuts work solely on their own, you took them to that next level with the flight path and sentiment. Well done!
These cards make me happy - especially the sparkly red paper airplane!! I really love that paper. And your card uses it so well and those clouds and heart flight pattern make my heart feel light and happy!! Your feather card has beautiful colors and looks so very classy! You did good, my friend!! I think you should be pleased and give yourself an awesome pat on the back!!
Hiya!! So first awesome cards!! Love the little paper plane and the flowers are GOR-GEOUS!!! Love the colors!!! And second i didn't releaze i'm 9 posts behind!!! So to expedite things, i've checked out your awesome, amazing 9 posts and will just comment here how i LOVE each and every one! Just amazed by your talent!! Now i can start fresh and NOT get behind (hehehe i'm really going to try anyway!! haha!!) :D
Love how you have multi coloured one of the feathers.
Oh wow--I love both of these card, Carol! The feathers are beautiful & perfect for a flight challenge!
Two unique and different cards, both of which I love equally! And love that you explored two different representations of flight! The first card is sweet as can be! That stitched heart is adorable, the clouds look sweet and fluffy and of course I love the wee little hearts! And the feathers, pitter patter. My heart is racing...GORGEOUS!!
I love the different colors of ink on that feather - I have GOT to try that technique!
TERRIFIC cards! Love you cute paper airplane and that gorgeous colored feather! Thanks so much for joining us at the CollourQ!
I would never have realized the error of all dies in an INKspirational challenge!! The shiny plane and the hearts are wonderful accents on that cloudy, blue sky!! Having said that, I'm glad you tried again because I love what you have done with the colors. I love all of the colors on one feather, then it is all grounded with the single purple feather. Lovely!
OOH DEAR
second card TOTALLY elegant and I adore it
first card cuuteee love that plane made by paper and the two hearts on the cloud..love love this miss C...
I go to next post now my dear...
