Perfectly CAS October 2019 Challenge~Birthday...Birthday Penguin

First: WOW to a gallery filled with amazing Perfectly CAS flower-themed cards for our debut challenge! You are rockin' the white space! Thank you for your warm, enthusiastic embracing of this 'new comer' in the crafting blog-iverse!

Time for our second challenge which, for October, is Birthday. I'm sure we all need a heaping of birthday cards throughout the year, so how about making a few CAS delights to keep on hand?

My simple little card features MFT's Sending Sweet Birthday Wishes penguin. Such a cute image and I couldn't resist adding the cupcake and a couple of streamers to round out the celebration.

Turning the stage over to you!
Looking forward to seeing your Perfectly CAS birthday cards in the gallery!

A reminder: For this challenge, we're asking you to use one-third (aka: the rule of thirds) or less on your card designs, leaving plenty of scrumptious white space (two-thirds of your panel) to draw our eyes to to your focal image. Kylie has included an easy-to-follow explanation on the challenge blog here.

Thank you for dropping by!

STAMPlorations Stencil Sunday...Fall Leaves

Welcome to my first - of two - STAMPloration Stencil Sunday posts for October.

My cards were inspired by the beautiful fall leaves that surround Lily and I when we go on our walks. I took this photo while she was busy with a stick; I just love the fiery reds/yellows/orange and the deep purple hues of this collection of leaves. Fortunately, I have both new and older leaf stencils in my collection...

As you know, I'm pretty straightforward when it comes to stencils, treating them with simple inking. You'll see my CAS style replicated here...with wee twists (at least for me they are *grin*)

For my first card, I went with the 'trendy' slimline panel ('casing' myself from a previous card) and tried to mimic the random pattern of the leaves from the photo.

Below is my initial 'construction' set-up: 3.5 x 8.5" panel; 'selected' leaves, masked off (selected = leaves that are 'complete' within the pattern); distress inks (Dusty Concord, Fired Brick, Ripe Persimmon, Wild Honey); blending brush.

STAMPlorations products:

Always one for 'needing' dimension on my cards, I decided, once I finished inking, to add some curly frame die cuts. I trimmed the panel ever so slightly to fit onto a black 3.5 x 8.5 piece of cardstock, which offers both framing and stability to the blended paper. I recessed the frames by adding foam to the intact section.

"Random" leaves and a new palette...I quite like this!

For my second card, I was, again, inspired by Nature's palette.

First, a peek at some of the tools used:  cardstock; mask for circle - made from packaging plastic + die cuts; distress inks (Spiced Marmalade, Fired Brick, Dusty Concord); blending brush, Leaf Mini stencil, with single leaf masked.

I stenciled the solitary leaf within a circle, to keep the design crisp and fresh.

STAMPlorations products:

I added sparkle to 'thanks' and to parts of each leaf...challenging to capture in a photo, but...giving it a whirl.

Canadian Thanksgiving is October 14th...I'll be giving these to the wonderful vet and vet tech who take care of my Lily!

Hope my 'clean and simple' style does justice to these laden-with-possibilities stencils!

See you back here on October 27th for my second Stencil Sunday feature.

Thank you for dropping by!

Happy Little Stampers October 2019 Anything Goes with Dies Challenge...Happy Halloween!

Welcome to Happy Little Stampers October 2019 Anything Goes with Dies Challenge.

I'm in mass-producing Halloween tags/mini cards mode for my niece and nephew these days! Rather than choose one design for all 60 (yes, you read that right), I've decided to change things up...a few like this; a few like that...Staves off boredom and gives me a reason to use the wonderful Halloween products I have

The 6 tags here use dies from a new-to-me company - Coco and Reno.  Their Halloween collection - generously sent to me - is spooktacular! Several dies that are very cool and cut like butter! Here, you see the ghost, bats, spider and, of course, the Happy Halloween cobweb.  Still lots more dies to play with..some of which you'll see soon!

Please visit my teammates; their creations are wonderful and, if you have a moment, leave them some love. I know they'll be thrilled!

Looking forward to seeing your Anything Goes with Dies cards/projects in the gallery!

A trimmer, foam tape, adhesive: all that's required. End result: cute cards to add to your stash and a mega-watt smile in seeing these come together quickly and easily!

So...I have designer paper and designer 'everything else' (ephemera, stickers) on my DT makes today!
