'Be-witching' Happy Halloween...Inkspirational Challenge #172~Designer's Choice

Hello,

Welcome to Inkspirational Challenge #172~Designer's Choice; our wonderful Kylie has chosen 'use vellum'.  EEK! Okay...vellum is lovely but, in my hands, EEK!

We're delighted to welcome Wei as our Guest Designer, all the way from Taiwan. Her use of vellum: brilliant! My wonderful teammates have used vellum in most fabulous, lovely ways as well; please visit them - and Wei - and leave them some love, which I know will be deeply appreciated:

Vellum is lovely, but in my hands: EEK! We are not 'close' friends; however, in snippets, we manage, so snippets I did. A LOT of snippets!. As you can see, I'm in full-throttle Halloween creating mode; these are a few of the mini cards (Taylored Expressions) I'm making for my niece's Grade 3 classmates. Eight completely done; another 6 'nearly done'; 12 more to go. Best get brewing with finishing these up! (Hard to see that the belts are shimmery with Glossy Accents; the boots, with Wink of Stella...these are stylin' witches *grin*)

How will you *use Vellum* in  your cards/projects?
Looking forward to seeing you in the gallery!

Webs, Ghosts and Spiders!...Just Us Girls Challenge #463~Colour Week

Hello,

Welcome to Just Us Girls Challenge #463~Colour Week, where our lovely Lisa invites us to use blue, green and purple in our cards/projects.

We're thrilled to have wonderfully talented Linda  from Lin's Craft Corner joining us once again. Please do visit her, as well as my teammates - SueAngieVickiInaBobbyNancyLisa and Maria - who would love to know you dropped by.

Blue, green and purple, especially at this time of year, for yours truly, means one thing: HALLOWEEN! And, since I'm in the midst of creating mini cards/tags for my niece's and nephew's teachers and classmates, I embraced this combination fully!

A little ghost, embossed spider web, plus a wee spider (who is more cute than scary!), a purple/green/blue inked background (Wilted Violet, Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio) - and a die cut Halloween (Simon Says Handlettered Halloween) to seal the deal! I can't even tell you how much fun I had making these! That Taylored Expressions ghost makes me giggle...those eyes!

Here's the spooky foursome...same, but different...

So, how will *Green, Purple and Blue* inspire you? Excited to find out!

A Tribute for Melissa Lane

Hello,

Today, I'm one of many designers participating in A Tribute for Melissa Lane, a precious member of the STAMPlorations family.

On October 2, 2018, Melissa Lane (https://honeybeelane.wordpress.com) passed away. During her two years as part of the STAMPlorations family, she revealed herself to be an incredibly talented, passionate designer, especially in mixed media, and a sweet, warm individual.

Melissa loved butterflies, so we're creating butterfly cards in memory of her. You can find all the details at Tribute To Melissa Lane. If you wish to create a card, you'll be able to link it up there.

Even though I did not have the joy of meeting Melissa in person, I was blessed - time and again - with her creativity, her inspiration, her positive comments and her enthusiasm for expressing  herself through her various projects, especially mixed media. Many times, her 'presence' brightened my days...and so, in her honour, I've designed a rainbow butterfly card.

Just a note...to let her - and her family - know that I miss her....

Uniko Studios DT Post...Snowflake Projects~Inspired by "Turnaround" Stamping

Hello,

Hope you'll drop in at Uniko Studio where I'm sharing a discovery made while wandering through the blog-iverse: 'home made' Turnaround Stamping.  Most of us are well aware that Turnabout Stamps are a new, popular, trend in stamping, involving a variety of stamps that are attached to one another and designed to be inked up and rotated to create fabulous - and in many cases, intricate - backgrounds.

Did you know, however, that we can create our own version of this type of stamping, using a bunch of little images already in our collections and a grid system? I didn't...until I found Allison Cope's video/post at Inspire Me Monday:Turnaround Stamping.

Here's a peek of what I'll be sharing, using this new, cool technique and a plethora of Uniko snowflakes and sentiments! You don't even need an engineering degree to do this! I 'may' have an additional panel (at Uniko) inked up to show you more possibilities...See you there!

Just Us Girls Challenge #462~Trend Week: CELESTIAL ELEMENTS

Hello,

I'm so excited to be hostess for Just Us Girls Challenge #462~Trend Week and the trend I'm inviting you to use: CELESTIAL ELEMENTS. Stars, planets galaxies that are inked, stamped, die cut, embossed, water-coloured, spritzed and splattered - ...whatever style and theme suits your fancy...please bring your 'out-of-this-world' creativity and play along with us!

I have a couple *ahem* projects to share...

First, a Halloween 'night sky' using a technique inspired by Amy Rysavy (love her videos!), of Prairie, Paper and Ink fame (here). As she mentions, this looks like a 'hot mess' as you create, but the star splatters make a remarkable transformation into a spooky night sky. My splattering, however, needs work!

I had background leftovers, so they became this mini card..

and this second mini card. Two more for the collection I'm making for my niece and nephew's classmates.

Since I was on an ink blending and splattering roll, I also made this (a bit excessive on the splatters..oops!).

(inside: STARS for you...)

Oh...and you don't 'need' to use ink blending to create a celestial themed card. Here, an embossing folder and little starry chipboard piece do all the work

as does a galaxy stamp (Lesia Zgharda universe stamp/The Alley Way sentiment) for this mini lunchbox note for my sister-in-law to share with my niece/nephew.

Yes, I got carried away but hopefully, these will inspire you to bring your CELESTIAL 'stars' to the gallery. Looking forward to your creativity....

Meowy Halloween Pop-up Card...Happy Little Stampers October 2018 Anything Goes with Dies Challenge

Hello,

Here we are, marching along to nearly the second week of October! Time is flying toooo quickly! Let's not even discuss how my Christmas card-making is coming along...YIKES!  Halloween cards still on the go...which brings me to...

For this month's card, I was inspired (as so many of us are) by Jennifer McGuire and, specifically by her Peek-A-Boo design.  Had to give it a whirl, using some 'leftover' Halloween images.  I won't pretend this was easy (remember: she has an engineering background!), but it was fun, fiddling around with the various pieces to make the interactive sentiment happen! Oh...and the paperclip is not part of the technique; I used it simply to keep the card from popping open as I used some fairly heavy card stock which, I discovered, works better than lighter paper...ask me how I know. As you can guess, a few versions of said design did not make the cut!  Lots of practice before ending up with this one...

This is the outside...

and when you open it, the sentiment 'slides' to this one...(and yes, the kitty changed her hat *grin*)

A design that delights; I see more of these in my future, eventually!

Please visit my teammates to see their wonderful creations and, if you have a moment, leave them some love. I know they'll be thrilled!

Looking forward to seeing your Anything Goes with Dies cards/projects in the gallery!

Here's a little more incentive to play along:

Our winner for this challenge will receive a $20 coupon to spend at the shop! Check out all the details HERE.

STAMPlorations ARTplorations Stencil Hop - Part 1 - OCTOBER 8

Hello,

First, Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian visitors. Hope your day is filled with happiness, gratitude, joy...and a fabulous meal shared with the special people in your lives.

Today, I'm joining the STAMPlorations gals to celebrate the launch of the newest, exclusive, trendy Sanna Lippert Designs stencils.  Her designs have wide appeal: perfect for those of us who are, like me, 'simple stencil folk,' those who love to dabble with mixed media art forms and everyone who falls in between. Whatever your style, Sanna's stencils will fit to a 't'.  With that as an introduction:

Welcome to the

No automatic alt text available.

All of Sanna's stencils can be found here.
Sanna's incredible creativity with her stencils can be found here (sneak peeks) and here. Please visit; you'll be awe-mazed by her artistry.

Soooo, following my 'simple stencil' technique, I've created three cards that see Sanna's stencils as the 'star of the stage.

Card 1: We were enveloped with a heavy snowfall on the day this card was made; all I could see in the the design was snowflakes *grin*, so...I went with it! Triple sentiment and yes, the song that accompanies said phrase was definitely running through my thoughts. Bet you're humming it now, too!

Card 2: Watching the snow fall and fall and fall - blech! - I decided to go the 'polar' (sorry, had to...) opposite, to create a rainbow (warmer!) version. This phrase is one of my favourites - a card that will go to my sweet niece.

Card 3: Of course, a card for my niece also means a card for my nephew. I was aiming for 'super hero' colours in my ink choices with this very cool Convallaria stencil.  The sentiment: Yep! He is definitely fantastic!

(Hmmm...I see cool Halloween background potential here, too. May have to give that a whirl...)

Okay, time to invite you to 'hop along' to see what my lovely teammates have to share. Of course, leaving a comment puts you in the running for a chance to win one of 4 prizes.
For both hops (Yes...another on October 15th!), there will be:
  • one winner of a $20 gift certificate,
  • one winner of a $10 gift certificate and
  • 2 winners of their choice of three (3) Sanna Lippert Designs stencils.
Commenting closes October 21. Winners to be announced on November 10 in the October Winners post.

Extra Details: From October 8 to 21, all stencils are 15% off - no coupon needed. The discount is automatically applied in the shopping cart. You can get an extra 20% off if you use my discount code: STAMPGIRLCAROLM.
