XOXO x 2...Just Us Girls #225, Simon Wednesday Challenge: Have a Heart

Second post - and after all the chattering from the previous one, I'll be quick here.

Two more cards for my niece and nephew's day-care teachers:

The first one was inspired by Just Us Girls #225 sketch,

which I 'miniature-ized' to fit on my 3 X 4 envelope/card:

and after making that one, I was inspired to try an 'inlaid' hearts card.  The first version - which currently resides in the recycle bin - I fussed about, with the goal of inlaying the XOXO die. Didn't work: too many little pieces, needed to reassemble the image to create an inlay went astray. Not a technique I should have tried on my own.

The version here is the second: hearts are inlay, sentiment is out-lay (out-lier? Outie?). It's a subtle card...too subtle. I should have matched up more vibrant patterned papers, so perhaps my SIL can give this to a 'mellow' day-care teacher...

They're also heading to Simon Wednesday Challenge: Have a Heart.

Thanks so much for dropping by; your visit and comments make my day!

You have really made the XOXO die stand out! Everything about both cards really puts that die in the forefront. Great job on all these valentines that you've been making. Your sil will be more than delighted. You are the sweetest sil/auntie ever. Those kids must think the sun rises and sets at your command!! Can't wait to see the next round... Bev

The xo die is really neat & I love the look of the first card with pink being my favorite color! I'm sure there's a mellow one in the bunch who will be just right for the second one!

I tried going inlaid this week too (telepathy) and my results were similar to yours - destination: recycling bin! How do he superstars make it look so good?!!!

lol Your post made me laugh. Don't ever apologise for chattering - for two reasons - 1) it is YOUR blog so do whatever feels right for you, and 2) your writing is amazing! I love both cards! I don't think the second one is too subtle or mellow at all - looks good from where I am sitting. Anyone would be happy to receive it. :)
