We were 'supposed' to be heading to see my mom today, but a winter storm - freezing rain, snow, wind - sees us staying here, at least for tonight. Driving treacherous roads, in the dark..ummm....no thank you!  Hopefully, conditions will improve enough so we can make the visit tomorrow. I *need* to see my mom and, of course, my sweet niece and nephew; my husband *needs* to cyclo-cross race (motivation for the trip...just offer him a race *grin*).

Anyway, the time here provided opportunity to get some house-cleaning done (half-hearted effort); some laundry done (still in the machine...) and some crafting!  I figured I wouldn't have a chance to play at CAS-ology Challenge #219~Spooky

this week, due to our trip but...here I am!  With something 'spooky' (HA!)!

I paired this challenge with CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #194,

and the result is this:  a glittery cat with Happy Halloween wishes....

As much as the weather has me totally somewhat miffed, there are a couple perks to changing our plan (not the least of which is being safe):  homemade pizza night (finally...we haven't had any for TWO weeks!) and A Blue Jays baseball game to watch...

Pineapples!...Just Us Girls Challenge #364~Trend Week: Pineapples

Mid-September, I finally received my long-awaited Hero Arts Layering Pineapple stamps...and at the end of September, the accompanying dies arrived. At that point, I decided that with Fall's strong presence, my little gems would need to wait for Spring before they had a come-out-to-play opportunity. Or so I thought! Imagine my delight when I spotted the wonderful Just Us Girls Challenge #364~Trend Week: Pineapples
Timing? Perfect!!!

Since I'd been waiting for these images soooooo long, just about everyone got an inking, a stamping and a die-cutting!   Too much fun! 

I wonder if I can come up with a Christmas-themed pineapple card...I'm not quite ready to put these away!

I decided not to go the scary-scary direction, opting instead for a row of little distress ink water-coloured pumkins, set atop a ledge of spider webs.  Winnie & Walter's Moonlight out for another play....

Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian friends!  May your day be one of gratitude for your blessings and time spent with family and friends, enjoying the harvests of the season.

We're at my mom-in-law's, so I'm squeezing in a bit of *me* time to share my card for MUSE challenge #186, inspired by Anita's striking leaves creation:

Her card was precisely the spark needed to create a birthday card for my brother, using my brand-new Concord and 9th leaf dies (or wheat dies, depending on your perspective...).  One features the background patterned paper, in autumn shades of gold, rust and bronze; the second, the 'backside' of the patterned paper, in rust; and the third, in shimmer gold cardstock.  I left them 'as is'...tall and handsome (I'd say 'pretty', but this is supposed to be a guy's card *grin*).  The sentiment is from Happy Little Stampers Butterfly Birthdays.

NOTE:  Thrilled and delighted to be selected as  MUSE Honourable Mention! Thank you!

Happy Halloween...Inkspirational Challenge #119~5 Stamps (or More)

Hello!

This weekend marks Thanksgiving here in Canada, and I want to express my deepest gratitude for all of you who visit my blog and leave such warm, supportive comments!  You make my heart smile!
Speaking of smiling...I'm delighted to be joining my fabulous design team - Sandie, Shauna, Nonni, Marina, Pia, Kim, Yvonne and ultra sweet guest designer, Bev, who we all know and love from her Happy Dance blog (by the way, I had the awesome opportunity to meet Bev in real life in the summer of 2015 on our return trip from across Canada. She is a charm in every. way. imaginable!) - for the newest Inkspirational Challenges #119~Designer's Choice. This go-round, Nonni challenges us to use 5 or more stamps on our projects. Seriously...how COOL is that!

I've been waiting a full year to use a stamp set that I absolutely adore: Winnie & Walter's Moonlight. In conjunction with that, I've had a complete crush on this fantastic card by Gayatri. Given the 5 stamps (or more) challenge requirements, my decision was an easy one. I pretty much shamelessly cased Gayatri's Halloween delight, (minus the bats and certainly missing the 'finesse' of special touches she has). I decided that imitation is the greatest form  of flattery...and besides, why mess too much with WOW?  I'm rather liking the outcome; aren't the webs fabulous? And how about the creepy spiders and 'eerie' font of the words....

My stamping equation of two spiders + two webs + EEK + Spooktacular + Happy + Halloween = a total of 8 stamps. Mission accomplished!

You are Amazing....STAMPlorations CAS Card Challenge #10~Anything CAS Goes (optional colour twist Black)

I'm giddy with excitement in joining the amazing STAMPlorations CAS team as a guest designer for the next three months!   Today marks my first 'official' post in this role, and I'm delighted to invite you to October's STAMPlorations CAS Card Challenge #10~Anything CAS Goes (optional colour twist: black)

I'm  opening with a truly CAS card, that features one, each, of my favourite stencils and stamp sets: Happy Flowers ARTplorations stencil and BOLD SENTIMENTS: Hashtag Authentic. I kept the stenciling light, with the goal of achieving an 'airy, dreamy' background, for the focal point sentiment.  My card is  heading to my husband's sister...who has been battling cancer for quite a while now. My heart hurts for her; she truly IS amazing...and incredibly inspiring. I'll be giving  her this card when we visit during our 'here already' Canadian Thanksgiving weekend.

NOTE: Thrilled and delighted that this card was selected for an Honourable Mention at CASology! Thank you, Judy!!

I designed a second card...surprise! (NOT!).  I missed the opportunity to play in ColourQ Challenge #316, where the photo of the wreath and accompanying autumn palette are swoon-inducing, so...

I brought the colours to the beautifully detailed Daisy Row Artsy Border, via spatters. The browns, paired with tangelo and turquoise...LOVE!

Hello!

As I write this, the furnace is running, I'm tucked under a wool blanket (and wearing my big, goofy fuzzy socks) and...it's snowing outside! 'Nuff said!

How about we turn out our thoughts  - and eyes - to more 'sunny' images, like those featured in our new FUSION Challenge~Chairs to You.  Isn't that tangly tower of lawn-chairs fabulous? And how enticing the matching sketch...

Today, I have three cards to share (because I can *grin*).  The first is my take on the sketch, featuring a trio of left-over cutie-patootie images from my 12 Kits of Occasions collection.  I knew they'd be perfect for this challenge, so they're getting a 'showcase' all their own. Aren't they 'spooky'?

My second card lead to a third card because I couldn't decide which orientation I preferred of my 'translation-of--chairs-into-leaves'.  Net result: make one of each.  My husband prefers the landscape (I likely have the terms wrong: he likes the last one); and I, the first (portrait?). Either way, I'm just happy to have had a first play with my new Concord & 9th Give Thanks set.  Actually, I have a backlog of C9 products awaiting attention...need more time!!
