A new challenge, the Card Concept, features 12 amazing designers showcasing 6 design styles. We're invited to create cards following the challenge theme and draw inspiration from one of the designers' styles. The concept is brilliant: we can showcase styles that work best for us, or we can try on different styles to broaden our card-making repertoires, or, as in my case, we can try to figure out what our style actually is. Whatever our motivations, the appeal factor is high!!
Challenge #1 inspires us with this image and colour combination:
Freshly Made Sketches #118 helped me with a layout idea
and I was also intrigued by the Crazy 4 Challenges #218: Skinny Card
We're supposed to identify our Designer Style, and I'm not sure if mine fits Clean and Simple, or Freestyle Collage, or (eeek) maybe no style at all. I drew inspiration from the colours, as you'll see...
I'm off to comment on other entries - another part of the fun - and wow, plenty of inspiring creations to gaze at and admire!
Thanks so much for dropping by; your visit and comments make my day!

Great use of graphic elements in these colours! I love that little image - so sweet! Thanks so much for joining us at the Card Concept!
Awww . . . this is so sweet! I love your skinny card. And I'm never able to figure out what my "style" is either, so we've got something in common!
Beautiful colours & sensational use of them on your card. Love how you've interpreted the sketch too. Don't be working too hard and enjoy your quiet moments. Hugs Bev x
I'm so excited that you are playing along with our very first Color Concept Challenge! Awesome job with the color challenge - these are tough colors to work with but you nailed it! As for your style, I'm thinking that this card would definitely be Freestyle Collage. The images that you selected (which all work together perfectly), seems to create a perfectly balanced collage look on your gorgeous card! Awesome entry Carol!
....the stitched hearts....sigh.....
More miniature goodness, Carol ... this is so sweet! Fantastic use of the colours with the die cut elements ... and whether it's CAS, CAG or Collage, it's a stunner! Anita :)
Fun card with lots of cute details. I struggled to categorise my card as well for the Card Concepts challenge, but I'm hoping it'll make me think more about what I'm doing and why and make me a better card-maker (at least that's the plan LOL). Thanks so much for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches.
Love how you combined the colors and sketch into one card!! Love all the details!!
Ooooh I love it Carol!! So happy that you are playing along with us on this first challenge! I'd have to say for this card, I think the freestyle collage may fit the best, or maybe clean and layered. Anyway, whichever it is , you did a beautiful job!! I love those little stitched hearts!! :)
Nice work...you did a great job on the colors!
Fabulous...fabulous...simply fabulous!!! I love your design, it is clean but your message really is loud and clear. Love it...
If this card was for a provincial exam you would score an A+!! (The thought of taking those exams still gives me the willies...25 years later!!). So super sweet! My fave part has got to be those stitched hearts dancing on the bottom of the panel - popped up in alternating fashion! Wait! What am I saying! The whole card is my fave part ;) !!! I played along with this challenge too (I will post tomorrow) and like you, I have NO idea what style category it (or any of my cards!) falls into!!! ps...thank you my email treat today...you sure do know how to make me smile!!!
Love the elements & how you used the colors--great card, Carol!
Carol, this is a superb use of the challenge colours. I love the repeated stitched hearts in different colours and the wonderful 'hands' image. The variety and arrangement of elements does suggest Freestyle Collage. Thank you so much for joining us at The Card Concept.
Pretty CAS design!
So cute and just perfect for valentines day!!! :)
OK, love the new challenge photo, great colors AND love how you played! This is so fun it reminds me of those picture equations where you have to figure out what they are saying, like on the inside of some bottle caps. Like Bee + :) = Bee Happy! Well done Carol!
Oh Carol...this card is SOO awesome!!! I just love it!! Love all of the MCT's goodies you've used!! What a beautiful Valentines card!!

As for your style-- totally Carol:) LOOOOOOOOVE that you can mix and match styles- CAS, Fun/Graphic…. and even some Elegant/Classy with Vintage/Shabby! This combo of styles makes you one talented crafter:) LOOOOOOOVE it <3

Hmmm...it's CAS but a bit graphic, but you're right, there's a collage element...who knows and who really cares which category this card falls into - it's a beaut and will not be pigeon-holed! ;) I hope your week is going well so far and is as laid back as your Monday was ;)
Yummy color combo and design Carol~perfect lineup of images!
