Happy Mother's Day: A Chevron First!!...Curtain Call, Virginia's View, Just Add Ink, TIME OUT, The Pink Elephant, Craftin' Desert Divas

Hello...it's past my bedtime (early to bed, early to rise...all that jazz) and although I certainly need beauty rest, I *had* to share my first chevron stamped creation *fist pump*  Finally, I decided enough with ignoring my chevron stamp, so I performed some stamp 'renovations' (it's a border stamp and felt a bit 'unwieldly,' especially given that my largest acrylic blocks is but 3 x 3...yes, another "I know, I know"), brought out my Delicata gold ink and...couldn't figure out what to do, exactly!

Ping!! Sandie, from London Days, commented that Nonni, one of her STAMPlorations DT companions, recently did a tutorial on chevron stamping (THANK YOU, Sandie and Nonni!!).  I headed on over...followed Nonni's directions and...ta dahhh...I made me some 3rd generation chevrons!!

Okay, the card layout is nothing new - inspired by Virginia's card at TIME OUT, which I used in my previous post  - but a few details have changed: chevrons, obviously, as well as a larger sized bloom, different colours, no loop.  My card - again, another quirk - fits several challenges...

TIME OUT #4: CASE Virginia's Card with Your Own Twist

Virginia's View Challenge #3: Stitching (Lil 'Inkers stitched mats and MCT stitched borders)

Whew....need to take a breath...

Once more, a whole lot of build up for a pretty basic card, but it's a first that I wouldn't have dared trying if not for the encouragement of all of you who encourage me to 'grow'....thank you so much!

Here it is....

Although it looks a bit crooked, in real life, it's not (trust me, I did this several times before I finally wound up with something usable...and straight...), and the photo is a tad dull (cloudy, flakes still swirling about), but my husband quite fancies it.  Indeed, he's mailing it to his mom tomorrow; hope she likes it, too.

Off to bed...I'll likely have chevron-laced dreams...

NOTE:  so honoured and delighted that my 'chevron first' was selected as an 'unforgettable' over at The Pink Elephant! THANK YOU!!

Thanks so much for dropping by; your visit and comments make my day!

Hey Carol! Border stamps are a pain, aren't they? I can't decide if it's old age, but I find the big blocks too hard to hold. Your solution is fantastic. I love those fading chevrons. And I love how your brilliant pink flower works with the gold backdrop. The border die coordinates perfectly. Thank you so much for playing along at Curtain Call.

This is stunning! The chevrons are such a lovely background for your beautiful flower and the touch of gold is gorgeous. I'm sure your mother-in-law was thrilled to receive it. Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a nice comment, I wasn't feeling very confident about my grunge card as it's not a style I use very much. Have a great rest of the week xx

Wow!! You are a chevron professional by the looks of this card! I would have thought you had been stamping chevrons for ages! Haha! Seriously, this is stunning and I can see why your hubby grabbed this up so quickly to send to the Mom. I love the gold trim, makes it look super special :) I'm going to go read that tutorial, as I have some neglected chevrons sitting around my craft room :) P.S. I'm sending some of my heat wave your way ;)

Ok, I'm sitting here at Starbucks on my lunch break, frantically trying to catch up on posts and comments (my poor little thumbs are suffering from texting fatigue!) and then I see THIS! I practically dropped the phone! Um, unbelievably gorgeous!!! No way are you chevron challenged! This is freakin' incredible! With gold, generational stamping to boot! Wow- WOW!!! Now I am going to pick my chin and my phone up off the floor!!!

Way to go, Carol ... what an awesome chevron card! The generational gold is gorgeous ... perfectly paired with the border strip ... and looking stunning as a backdrop to that beautiful bloom! My (few) chevrons always look squiffy ... I even use a T-square to check they're straight, but they still look slanted! Yours, on the other hand look perfect! Do more! Hugs, Anita :)

Carol - why on earth were you panicking about chevrons? You have nailed this card!!! It is stunning. I ADORE the pink and gold together. Oh how I love those flowers from Uniko - still on my wish list!! How clever to use different generation chevron stamping too - it looks amazing!! Thank you for all your amazing comments on my card class cards. I am LOVING it!!!!! The only problem is, I am learning SO many techniques that when I go to make a card outwith the class, I won't know what to do - there will be too many options to think about!! :-) xx
