Hello,
Welcome to Just Us Girls Challenge #571, where our lovely hostess, Maria, has selected the increasingly popular Slimline Card style for this week's challenge. I love slimlines, be they the full or mini size. Guess that qualifies me as being trendy *grin*
We're delighted to have Leslie Turner joining us as our guest designer this month, with a slimline card featuring my favourite hot beverage. Truly delightful! Please head over to the main blog to see the amazing inspiration from her as well as my amazing teammates. If you have time to drop by their places and leave a comment, that would be truly appreciated.
Today, I'm sharing the Valentine's Day slimline I sent to my mom. It's been a year today since we last had a 'real' visit with her (as in spending a couple of day/nights); hard to believe how things have changed. Every evening, however, I call to see how her day has been, so I figured these images would make her smile. I've also taught Lily, my sweet mini schnauzer, to be part of the conversation: when I tell her we're calling 'Bacia' (Polish for grandma), she sits beside me and 'listens' until it's her turn to say 'Night night'. I ask her to sit, look at me, wait and then, say 'night night' at which point, she taps (or more like 'smacks') her paw on the back of my iPhone. Mom can hear the 'taps' and lets Lily know how great she's doing. Of course, each 'night night' comes with a kibble as added incentive. We do that three or four times before we end the call. I know mom comes away with a smile and happy thoughts of her grand-dog *grin*
That's it from me; looking forward to seeing your slimlines in the gallery.

Your card is so delightful, Carol. Your story is heartwarming. I am SO sorry that it has been so long for you to have visited in person. I hope someday in the not too distant future you can hug each other. I'm sure your mom really appreciates your calls and Lily's night, night. So sweet! Thank you for sharing that bit of sweetness. Please take care. Hugs!
Super sweet card! What a fun tradition on the phone -- 4 legged grands are good :)
This is so cute! We had the same idea with the pink phone! Great job with the slimline design.
What a great story and a deeply personal card, Carol. I'm sure your Mom was thrilled.
So cute and perfect for your mom!!!
Love the pink and grey combo and the cute meece with their old-style phones! How fun that Lily can join your phone conversations - I've added Duncan into the frame for a couple of family zoom calls, but that's as good as it gets with a cat. ;)
You and Angie are the queens of slimline that is for sure and I adore your card so much. I love pink and grey together. You have placed and colored every inch just perfectly. I loved reading your story today about your mom. What a shame that it's been so long since you had a true get together. Breaks my heart for you and your mom. I speak to my father every night too, although I have no pets to include in the conversation. I enjoyed your story! HUGS!
You really have that dog well trained! What a great tradition you have with your mom.
Your card is just darling. I love the adorable images and all the white space. Thanks for sharing at Cut it Up for our All You Need is Love challenge!

Love these mice or rats, it’s an awesome slimline design. And sweet reading too. I talk to my mum every day, but for me it’s a morning activity, my mum is a morning person and as I grow older I seem to turn into one myself.
Carol, you get the 'daughter of the year' award! Lily gets the grand-dog of the year!
Darling slimline love note for your Mom - hope she's doing well!

Oh, my. This is super adorable, and I am definitely pinning to CASE. This Secret Admirer is my favorite stamp this week, and I have made some super fun cards with it...but none as great as this one. Love the story you tell in each of your windows.
What a great card! Love the layout! Looks fantastic! Great job with this weeks challenge.
Such charming images!! I love them with the black and white windows!
Love your card and your sweet tradition with your mom and pup! These times are definitely different and have caused so many changes in our lives. Hopefully it won't be too much longer before you and Lily get to see mom!
Love love love your sweet loving card for your Mum Carol. I am sure it cheered her up and no doubt looking forward to seeing and hugging you for real. We are so lucky here and where I live. Very few restrictions but we only go our for groceries every fortnight or to visit my sil who lives about 15 minutes away. Hope you get to be your Mum soon.
This little scene is as sweet as can be, Carol! Those mouse are so cute. I love that comic style lay-out.
So so cute! Love the color combination. Thank you for playing along with us at Cupcake Inspirations!
