A three-day work week, yet I'm cheering exuberantly that the weekend is upon us! Oh, how I wish I could replay the fabulous, awesome, and all around delightful past weekend with my family, however, 'tis not the case. Rather, I'll be up to my eyeballs in Christmas card and tag making, working fervently to get a stash for my mom. I have so many ideas, and given the plethora of NBUS I've accumulated over the past very short while (Mr. Visa has been exercising far, far too hard!), I'd best get crackin' so everything makes at least one debut.
My card today, however, is a deviation from my Christmas card only diet (one does need to 'cheat' now and again), for the current Uniko Studio Challenge #15~Texture, plus
a selection of colours from this gorgeous palette
Just Add Ink #240~Texture is also one of my destinations, as is a 'first time' visit to this challenge -
Stempelküche-Challenge #7: Strukturpaste, where my amazing uber-talented friend, Julia is a DT member.
As you'll see, one of my 'textures' is obvious: embossing paste. What's also obvious is that I need a whole lot more practice using it! The TH stencil I chose was tricky to work with...so I'll blame 'him' for a bit of 'messy.'
My second 'texture' technique comes from none other than our creative Jennifer, McGuire, who showed us, in her video here, how to wield a white Prismacolour pencil and a white eraser to add highlights, dimension and texture to stamped images. While the 'blending' of the white onto my Uniko Beautiful Bloom is difficult to see in the photo, the real life version is quite pretty. An easy 'to do' that certainly adds a 'special touch'.
Here's my card...
Before you go, a photo my sweet niece, Ms. T! Yes, I'm biased Aunty C, but I think she's adorable! You can see why visiting her, and her brother, Mr. C (photo of him down the road), brings sparkle to my life. Love you, Ms. T!!
Thanks so much for dropping by; your visit and comments add sparkle to my day!

Great use oft embossing paste, and I really like the big "happy birthday"! Thanks so much for joining us at the 'Stempelküche-Challenge'! Hugs, Julia
I think the embossing paste is just fine. It's not supposed to be "perfect," and it looks great on this fabulous card. Beautiful colors too. And it's good to break out of a 'diet' now and again. I'm still in scrapbook mode...but would rather be making cards. And Miss T....She's absolutely adorable and looks like she's full of fun! Easy to see why you're totally smitten. Have a great weekend. Bev

I so agree Carol, every once in a while we need to cheat a little on that diet. lol love, love your birthday card my friend!! I don't see any problems with the embossing paste and stencil, you did a fabulous job with them both and I love it! I also love how that beautiful bloom came out-I just love to watch Jennifer McGuire, she is so talented and makes everything look so easy. Well that is until I give it a go, then it can become a hot mess. lol Oh I'm so glad you share a pic of Ms T!!! She is so adorable, so you not just bias but right too! How could anyone resist that little sweet face?! know not you Carol!! I would be right there with you and I am with my own little ones-love them to pieces! My 6 year old granddaughter kept melting my heart on the phone just the other night as she had to keep getting on to tell me how much she loves me. What grandma can resist that?! So I know all to well how much you enjoy Ms T and Mr C. and speaking of Mr C, I can't wait to see a pic of him too! Hugs, Brenda
Oh my goodness Miss T is ADORABLE! I have never seen pictures of the little ones, so could only imagine how cute there were, but now I have seen and there is serious cuteness going on! Can't wait to see Mr. C!! Now to your stunning card!! Oh my! Embossing paste is one of those things I put on my "I'm never doing that" list, but I find my mind wandering off about it these days. After seeing this card of yours it really makes me want to try it. And I'll have to check out Jennifer's video, because your blooms are gorgeous! Very very lovely work and such a treat to visit your blog! (hugs, happy weekend, and stay warm!) ;)
Gorgeous card with the embossing paste Carol ... looks just right to me. The technique with the white pen and eraser really adds some depth to the beautiful bloom --- great job.
Your niece is ADORABLE!! No wonder you love spending time with her and her brother! Loll xx
What a fabulous colour combo and adore your use of the embossing paste! Stunning card! Yeah for little people who make our world a happier place :) She is just adorable and very blessed to have such a fabulous Aunty C too!!!
Gorgeous card and I love your use of the embossing paste as a partial background, it looks so effective! Thanks for joining us at Just Add Ink :)
She is so adorable Carol!
Wow Carol, the texture here is just fabulous. I love it, the perfect background to this beautiful stamp xx
Oh Carol...this is GORGEOUS! You did an amazing job on Jennifer's technique (just tried it myself)...it looks so pretty on your flowers and your color combo is stunning! I don't think your embossing paste looks sloppy at all...I think it's beautiful, and it adds so much pizazz to this card!
Thanks for sharing this sweet photo of Ms. T ~ She's a real CUTIE!!!
Well, not as if I need a special reason to come and visit your blog, but … woooooooooot! So happy you joined us over at the Stempelküche challenge! I never really considered using embossing paste as a background decorative medium, but now of course I want to try it after seeing your card. You created one of those effects where the recipient looks from all sides, and then scratches their head, wondering 'How on earth did she do this?'. I love doing that to people and your card will be well loved by whoever receives it.
That embossing is just fabulous, Carol ... love that there's an unstructured look to it, makes it even more texture-y ... and the bloom over it ... beautiful! Little Miss T is such a cutie ... what a sweet, sweet smile ... I'm guessing that one was especially for Auntie C! Hugs, Anita :)
WOW! I so NEED to get me some embossing paste! I think I'll be adding it to my Christmas wish list :) Love how you've used the challenge over at Uniko Studio and thank you SO much for joining in :) Hugs Bev x
Wow...you are just amazing my friend! Your embossing paste is stunning, the best I have seen to be honest with you. And your sweet little niece is as adorable as it gets, she is very lucky to have such a sweet and loving aunty.
She is super adorable! I love your artistic, beautiful card, Carol!
Carol, I love the texture you've added behind the gorgeous flowers; and your colour choices are fabulous. Thanks for playing along with us at Just Add Ink this week!
Miss T put a smile so big on my face that I think it is stuck there for at least this whole day!! How adorable and super sweet is she!! NO wonder you are so proud of her!! Your card is amazing and I loved seeing how you tried some new techniques and tried to learn from other crafters. I feel so lucky to be able to learn and be inspired by you!! Thanks for all you do and for sharing YOU with me!!
Carol I love the white on white texture and pattern you created using the embossing paste. I think the messy effect looks great! Thanks for joining us at Just Add Ink this week.
