Prayers...Just Us Girls Challenge #461~Word Week

Hello,

Welcome to Just Us Girls Challenge #461~Word Week, where our sweet Nancy has selected Sympathy as our theme.

A new month brings a new guest designer to the JUGS team; this month, we're thrilled to have wonderfully talented Linda  from Lin's Craft Corner joining us. Please do visit her, as well as my teammates - SueAngieVickiInaBobbyNancyLisa and Maria - who I know would love to know you dropped by.

Sighhhh...sympathy cards are challenging to make, and while I know we 'need' them, they just...well, sad happens. Big, deep, heart-touching sad. That explains why, out of all the occasions that call for cards, this is one I'm not drawn to; indeed, I shy away completely. I tried my best to make a pretty, soothing, delicate card that, hopefully, would fit as a sympathy card. Not sure this quite fits the bill and while it is sort of pretty (the photo fails to capture the more vibrant greens of the stems/leaves) - because the Altenew Wildflower set is so lovely - it doesn't speak 'sympathy' to me according to my vision of what such cards should be. Perhaps that's due to my 'run the other direction' when tasked with sympathy cards but...I did try. And I hope it would, even just a little bit, lift the spirits of the person receiving it....

Anyway, I'm glad Nancy selected this theme and I'm glad I stayed the course.
Whew...enough gloom from me!

I know you're Sympathy cards will be lovely, delicate, touching and heart-warming; I look forward to seeing them in the gallery.

Thank you for dropping by!

  6. I think wildflowers speak to the heart, Carol, and in the soft yellows they are perfect for a sympathy card.

  8. Gorgeous sympathy card, Carol! Don't know if I should admit that I like making them. Don't know why, maybe because with all other cards I always feel I should add embellishments, etc but not with sympathy cards. Those I like very simple.

  9. This is very soft and soothing with that delicate background. The colors are so uplifting and that sentiment is perfect. This is sure to bring some sunshine to a sad situation.

  10. It's a beautiful card Carol and there's nothing wrong with making sympathy cards that will brighten the person's day at the same time as letting them know you are thinking of them. I'm sure this card will bring some sunshine to an otherwise gloomy day. Hugs, Gwendolyn

  12. I love the card. I think sympathy cards should also subtly show hope - and that's what those lovely flowers do.
