TGIF...with the added bonus of Thanksgiving Monday, here in Canada. We've decided on a 'stay-put' weekend, as we have travel plans in some form or another for the rest of October and well into November. Even though turkey and all the trimmings won't be on our agenda, some hiking, crafting time and home-made pizza are...and for that I'm so grateful. Looking forward to what I hope will be a weekend to do as we please...with maybe a decadent dessert tossed in, just because...
Speaking of desserts...did you see the gorgeous cupcakes served at Cupcake Inspiration Challenge #330~Peach, Cherry, Mousse? Needless to say, I was tempted...not once but three times!
Yes, I found the colours challenging, as I don't have inks, markers or papers those lovely colours, so...I adapted as best I could.
Autumn theme was my first direction, with this one featuring stenciling using my closest-to-mousse-peach-and-berry distress inks I had: tea, picked raspberry and spiced marmalade....
Given the leaf dies and inks were out, I went for a second card, using the tea dye in the leaves and a light dusting of mowed lawn for the background.
While those are 'okay,' I felt I wasn't doing the colours justice so...one more for the road. This time, I used some 'berry' cardstock, light orange ink for the stenciled hearts (even though they look pink, they aren't) and my teddy is a blend of mousse and brown. Tombow markers...yet another story...yet another colouring-medium experiment...
Anyway, here's my Cupcake inspired trio....Kind of reminds me of the forests around here...trees, leaves and the occasion bear *grin*...
NOTE: Honoured and thrilled to be selected as one of the Cupcake Inspiration's Top Six. THANK YOU!!
I'm also sharing my autumn cards at TIME OUT Challenge #41~Inspired by Words: 'Autumn...the year's last, loveliest smile'.
Wishing you a wonderful start to your weekend and to all my Canadian friends: Happy Thanksgiving!
Hugs,
All three are wonderful. And, how versatile those colors are, that the first two and the third use the very same colors. I'm really loving your dreamy soft stenciled backgrounds and those beautiful colored leaves especially.
