Welcome to Inspirational Challenge #80 where, for the next two weeks, we're inviting you to draw inspiration - colours, shapes, eggs, or maybe something entirely different (*ahem*...as I did *grin*) from this photo:
Honestly, this was one heckuva (can I say that work in blog-land? Guess I just did!) challenging photo for me to interpret! Very! No eggs means heading off in an EN-TIRE-LY different direction...an attempt at 'collage'. Why that? Because that's what I see in this photo: a lovely and fetchingly arranged collection of eggs, yes! I also saw colours, splotches, splatters, different shapes/sizes, so...I headed off (as is my tendency), did my thing and here's the result...
The colours: rather obvious (the orange is drawn from the background layer of the container, which looks orange on my screen). The black butterfly was my nod to the egg on the bottom right (mottled, sort of amber), while the lighter one links to the one in the first section of the second row (yes...I was working with the details); the flowers were....um, just because. The frame (brown) and kraft base speak to the container. Hmmm...maybe this isn't quite a 'collage', so much as an 'arrangement of images.' I need to work on adding funky backgrounds to truly attain collage-status. More practice...but it's a start!
Whatever this 'style' is, I hope you see snippets of connection.
Hope that I've offered a bit of inspiration to encourage you to look closely at the photo's details and create a card/project to share in the Ink gallery. You may be the one we choose as a future Guest Designer!
I'm sharing my card at: STAMPlorations Bi-Weekly Sketch Challenge #31. My layout may be a bit of stretch, but I tried for 'balanced' images above and below my sentiment frame so...fingers crossed! If I'm too 'out there,' I understand!

ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I bow to you for taking on this challenge. Me, I'd have just let it go. But then, I'm not one to participate in challenges. I can't handle the...well...challenge! LOL So kudos to you for attempting this. I think you did a fantastic job with it. I can completely see where you were going with this even without the explanation. I call that completely successful. Your coloring and masking are fabulous and you finished with a beautiful card. Excelletn work! :)
ReplyDeleteOops...wish I could edit and spell excellent correctly. ;)

ReplyDeleteI don't know if you noticed, Carol, but the centers of your flowers look like eggs. ;) You're brave to try a collage look. I love them when I see them, including yours, but I'll be darned if I know how to put one together. Way to creatively think outside the 'crate'!

ReplyDeleteI just love how we artists can each see something a bit different than our neighbors. It's good that you're a bit outside the box -- it helps the rest of us to look at things from a different perspective! I love this card. You've made something really sweet. Especially love those flowers! And the colors. And the butterflies...ok, ok... Love all of it! Bev

I am so happy to have an "original" from you! That black butterfly is gorgeous - funny, that I also just have made a card with a black butterfly on it - must have been telepathy, LOL! Hopefully you are getting some fun out of your fun foam. Let me know when you need more! Have a great weekend, Carol!
