Thank You...As You See It~Challenge #069, MUSE #99

Hello!

My mom and I had a busy, somewhat adventurous week, with the highlight being a decision to install new furnaces on January 19th. So glad she listened to the furnace tech, who made quite clear that after 40 years, the furnaces  *needed* replacing.  Alas, the smaller furnace of the two, that warms the second storey, decided to cease and desist yesterday evening.  I left a message with the service rep this morning, telling of our plight; hopefully, we can bump the job to this week. I guess in the grand scheme, the timing of these malfunctions is 'good' in that I'm around to help, but honestly?  Yeesh.

Another highlight: thanks to the brilliance of Michele, of I Card Everyone fame, and her fabulous card here, I have resolved, for the time being, my white-cardstock only situation. Yayy! A trip to a nearby RONA store, straight to the paint section, and a few minutes later, a stack of colourful paint chip papers in  hand. Free! SCORE!! My selection also included chips that are single colour, 4.5" in size. Cheering...

So, with new 'card-stock' in hand, I've created a card inspired by Vicki's gorgeous creation, as you can see below, over at MUSE #99

and the sketch over at As You See It #069

My mobile crafting unit included my doily die, several tag and banner dies, my stitched circles and and some new Reverse Confetti stamps, so out they came and here's the result:

NOTE:  Honoured and delighted to be selected as a Top Pick at As You See It. THANK YOU immensely!

The chip paper = doily, circle and banner. Thank you, Michelle, for the coloured-paper solution! Happy me!

I started my post this morning, and just returned to it this early evening, after another day of outings (church, shopping, dropping her off to see my sister while I helped my brother and sister-in-law with the kiddos at an indoor nature park...). Update on the furnace: new arrivals rescheduled for Wednesday. Whew *brushing palm of hand across forehead*...hope this all works out!

Thanks so much for dropping by; your visit and comments add sparkle to my day!
Hugs...

  6. Love that you are using my card to be inspired, along with my 2015 motto [which you probably didn't know], which is Make It Work! You did brilliantly by using the chips - WTG! Thanks so much for joining me over at Muse!

  7. Seriously girl....you do so much with your little MCU than I manage with a whole ROOM full of supplies. Maybe less is really more....You card is fantastic, Miss Carol. 9. So very pretty, Carol, I love that delicate little bow! How ingenious to raid the paint chip shop for coloured cardstock (!) ... an idea from Michele, yes ... with your Carol-esque touch! Glad the furnace job's been brought forward ... in the meantime stay downstairs in the cosy warm!! Hugs, Anita :)

  10. You truly are one amazing lady Carol. Your mom must be so happy to have you there with her, especially when faced with malfunctioning furnaces! Yeesh seems to sum up the situation pretty darn good!!!

I am in awe of your product resourcefulness yet again! This card is amazing! How about a few video tutorials depicting your supply-less savvy? Perhaps they could be titled "Who Needs Product" or "Crafting with Rona" or "Got Paint Chips - Let's Craft!".....

  11. Well, if you lived closer, I would run right over with a stack of card stock to share :) So sorry to hear about the furnace woes, but yes, probably a good thing you're there to help your mom. Now the cards you've made with the paint chips are fabulous!! I have a ton of these things, because every time I go in a store that has them, the amazing colors just pull me to them like a magnet and I can't resist picking up a few each time. :D heheh! Beautiful cards my friend! (hugs to you and your mom)

  14. Oh I am so happy that they bumped your mother's furnace replacement up! Our furnace is over 50 years old and not the most efficient anymore, but still runs although it doesn't have to do all the work since we depend on the corn store. It sound like you and your mother are keeping very busy my friend and it sounds like you are having some fun times with the kiddo's. Now I have to say that you are one amazing woman! How clever of you to pick up paint chips and use them for your cardstock! I'm so in awe of that and wish I would have thought of it myself. lol Your card turned out so beautiful! You know I love the MCT products you used and I really am loving those paint chips. lol That still has my jaw on the floor. Hugs, Brenda

  15. With paint chips?!? You can't say we crafters aren't resourceful. :) Your cards are both charming and I seriously would never know about the paint chips. I might have to steal that little idea. Thank you so much for your warm, kind comment on my blog. It made me grin really, really big. I'm definitely becoming a follower over here so I can keep up to date.
And though it's under sad circumstances, I'm glad you're able to be there for you mom - just when she needs it most. Sending hugs.
