Hello,
Welcome to Just Us Girls Challenge #651, where our lovely hostess, Nancy, has selected this gorgeous fall leaves photo as this week's inspiration. Autumn's presence is certainly being felt here...colourful leaves, frosty mornings, shorter days, cooler temperatures...and we're enjoying it all immensely.
This week, we also bid farewell to our amazing Guest Designer, Julie Beech. Her cards have been ever so inspiring; the one she's created for this challenge is absolutely marvelous! So, too are those of my teammates. If you have a chance to leave them some love, please do so.
I made three Autumn cards, using assorted leaf dies and distress inks, and they all just seemed 'meh' to me. I couldn't capture the beauty of fall with them, so...I switched gears and went with the card you see below, focusing on the leaves and what fall brings to mind, rather than the colours.. It's my 'stylized' version of a Thanksgiving card which, here in Canada, is but two weeks away. Time flies....
Papers are from my stash; leaf dies and sentiment from MCT; sentiment strip from Studio Katia.
Looking forward to seeing your take on the photo.
Oooh, I like this card, Carol. The woodgrain on the leaves is very cool looking. The colors look great! Well done!
ReplyDeleteThe woodgrain leaves look fab with the soft tones of the background panel and DP.
ReplyDeleteI'm currently following a program on TV road trip across Canada so thought of you. Just over halfway, started off in Newfoundland then Montreal and Toronto and on to Churchill and Winnipeg, they're heading for the prairies next.:)
I love your color palette, Carol! This is a great Thanksgiving card and I love that you went in your style direction! Enjoy the cooler weather while Carol Mc and I prepare for a Hurricane. What are the chances?
