Hello,
Welcome to Just Us Girls Challenge #581, where our sweet Bobby has selected this Spring photo as this week's inspiration. We had a 'teaser' of warm weather for two days this week but now, we're back to winter temperature. Yesterday, it was -3C when we walked Lily; today, it's 0C....and snow is in the forecast for the weekend. Yes, Spring in Alberta is...interesting...
Once again, we're delighted to have Claire Apostoloff guest designing with us; her card is wonderful, as are those created by my teammates. Do check them out and, if you can, leave them some love.
As I've mentioned multiple times: I find flowers challenging and, as you've discovered, they don't appear all that often on my cards. I rarely colour flowers, so when they show up, they're either ink/cardstock layered, stenciled or, as is the case here, die-cuts. All about simplicity *grin*
On my card, the wood slates and overall colour scheme were translated into the rainbow stripes of the patterned paper. I went with a simple arrangement of PFS Dainty Blossoms. This didn't take long to make, once I figured out the plan..and that took quite a while! Let's just say that a few other attempts (with stamps) just didn't make the cut *grin*
That's it from me; looking forward to seeing how the photo inspires you!
Die cut flowers are big with this challenge -- I adore yours against the color blocking
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! I love the delicate white blooms against that paper.
ReplyDeleteWell, the time it may have taken sure was worth it, this is a beautiful card, Carol. Lovely delicate bloom shining brightly against the lovely stripes of color. I hear you about the weather. I'm bad at converting the temps, but we had snow a few days last week and it's in the forecast for a day or two next. Sigh...enjoy the warmth when you can, right? Thanks for sharing, Carol!
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect solution to not wanting to color flowers!! Those crisp white flowers are absolutely lovely on the stripes. LOVE the colors.
ReplyDeleteFlorals are never my first thought either Carol. As for your card, it's really fabulous. The paper worked out so well with your dainty white die cuts. Great job once again with another slimline card that I adore.
ReplyDeleteLove that background! Beautiful!

ReplyDeleteI really like this, the background is super and the white flowers so delicate stand out really well against it. xx
ReplyDeleteThat's patterned paper? It looks like paint chips that you glued on. So perfect behind those dainty die cut flowers, Carol.
ReplyDeleteTotally gorgeous! I love your slimline design with the striped background and those amazing die cut florals. Love the white frame you added, too.
