I can't believe that August is coming to a close; I especially can't believe that the start of a new school year is on the horizon! Not for me, though...one of the perks of being a retired teacher *grin*
Speaking of school...Welcome to Just Us Girls Challenge #455, where our wonderful Vicki is inspiring us with a school-themed photo. Your card/project doesn't have to be a school card; plenty of other elements to spark your creativity, be that colours, or shapes, or letters or... The choices are yours - just let us know what caught your eye.
If you've come from - or are heading to - the challenge blog, you'll see fabulous cards from Ros Crawford, who has been our marvelous GD this month, and my talented teammates: Sue, Angie, Vicki, Ina, Bobby, Nancy, Lisa, Maria. Please drop by their places and leave them some love.
While yours truly is not heading back into the classroom, two little loves-of-my-life are: my niece and nephew, into Grades 3 and 1, respectively. This growing up stuff is happening way toooo fast!
I decided to make bookmarks for them...and added a snippet of whimsy (or so I hope), in having the books rather precariously stacked, yet capable of balancing a vase of flowers. Just plain old fun...
NOTE: Honoured and thrilled to be selected as one of three winners at
Simply Create Too Challenge #141. THANK YOU!
Wishing you a wonderful weekend! We're at my mom's and will be visiting the kiddos tomorrow. Excited to deliver the bookmarks in person (and a book just 'might' be part of the package, too)!

Okay, I didn't know you were a retired teacher. Is this new? Will you still be marking exams later? How wonderful that you now get to encourage and celebrate your sweet niece and nephew who are growing too fast. I have a high school senior this year. *sniff, sniff* Your bookmarks are delightful and sure to be a hit, especially if there is a book by a favorite author involved. Your coloring looks terrific!! :) Hugs!!
