A warm (and hopefully, sunny) welcome to you as you join us for this week's Just Us Girls Challenge #437~Colour Week. Of late, I've been crushing over Ultra Violet, the Pantone Colour of the Year 2018. Described as "complex and contemplative," mysterious and intriguing, symbolic of "unconventionality" and "artistic brilliance", how can one not be tempted to play with this amazing colour and "push boundaries through creative outlets"? Purple? Yes please!
If you've come from - or are heading to - the challenge blog, you'll see an array of fabulous cards from our April Guest Designer, Karren Johnson, and my talented teammates: Sue, Angie, Vicki, Ina, Bobby, Nancy, Lisa, Maria.
Two cards to share today. Mine features the oh-so-lovely, delicate Mandala stencil from Studio Katia. Three shades of purple distress inks, a sentiment from Label Messages (love that this set has matching dies!) and...done! Simple and, in my view, so pretty....love that the stencil did all the hard work!
My just-turned-8-year-old niece is joining me again as a Guest Designer, with a card she made when visiting us over Easter. Studio Katia for her, too: You're Ranunculus stamps and die; Label Messages,STAMPlorations Dragonfly Waltz stencil. Outside of the actual heat embossing, she did this alllll on her own! LOVE her bright purple card!
Turning the stage over to you!
Looking forward to seeing your PROMINENTLY PURPLE creations in the gallery!
Thank you for dropping by!
Two gorgeous cards! Your stencil looks fabulous against the white background and your niece has created another beautiful card!
ReplyDeleteFantastic work by two very talented artists! I adore mandalas. Very drawn to them, although I don't do much with them. Visually though, I find them so intriguing. So, I was immediately smitten with your design. So, so pretty! And your niece's card is fantastic with all the bodacious bold purple. LOVE it! She is amazing. How could she not be, though, with an incredible auntie to guide her! Thanks for sharing. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteWOW! I love your card it's so soft and delicate. And OMG your 8 year old niece made he second card? WOW WOW, It's awesome! Great job to you both on this week's challenge.
ReplyDeleteTwo great cards - your niece has inherited your talent.
ReplyDeleteThat stenciled card is just lovely!
ReplyDeleteBeeeeeeeeautiful cas card here Carol. Stunning colour! Off course it's my favourite. Love your stenciling and a simple sentiment makes it pop perfectly.
ReplyDeleteYour niece has done it again with her ever so colourful card. So very pretty.
You and your niece are an awesome creative team and your cards are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are beautiful! You must be so proud of your niece and her artistic ability. That stencil in those colors is so soft and lovely. Great choice of colors for us this week!
ReplyDeleteSoft and gorgeous purples radiate from your stenciled card, Carol. Ms T is really showing off her talent with those beautiful Ranunculus. She may need her own blog soon. ;)
ReplyDeleteYour stencilling is beautiful, Carol ... love how you've concentrated the colour in the middle ... so deliciously saturated! Miss T's ranunculus are gorgeous ... she's clearly inherited your talent! Hugs, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous-love how you used the color with that stencil (now on my wish list!) and also your niece - really are you sure she is not a grown up disguised as a smaller child? Her talent is so mature and she obviously takes after her amazing aunt!!! Gorgeous - BOTH of you!!!
ReplyDeleteCarol, This is sooooo pretty! The Mandala card knocked my socks off! Then your niece's card is fabulous once again! She is going to be a force to be reckoned with if she continues this passion of ours! Sorry I am late, but life got in the way this week!
