Wishing You Koi...The Heart Desires Challenge #14~First Anniversary Celebration!

Hello!

Looks like our sizzling temperatures are creating all kinds of havoc (much more serious than my *can't handle the heat* grumpies); we have ash/smoke from various forest fires greying our skies (so much for having dusted!) AND a severe thunderstorm watch in effect.  While I'm hoping for rain, as  most of western Canada is, I'm also hoping that, given the dry conditions, lightning is not part of the package deal....

Anyway, let's turn away from 'scary' water scenes and focus our attention on those far more lovely and alluring, such as the pretty images selected to inspire us for the First Anniversary Celebration at The Heart Desires Challenge #14.

Vibrant sea-themed photos, indeed. I'd love to explore such surroundings, although that crab...he'd be given wide berth...those claws look pinchy! Speaking of big crabs, he reminds me of my long ago trip to the Cook Island of Aitutaki  where crabs galore skittered along the roads, in the ditches and into the restaurants and pubs. I kept my feet up whenever sitting down and my legs were on high-run-away alert when sight-seeing. Icky....but the island itself is gorgeous!

Moving on:  we won't discuss how long the Hero Arts Layering Koi set has been in my possession. Today, finally, making a debut...

Colours, water theme, celebration...hope I've met the "physical' challenge criteria.  As for the enjoyment aspect: oodles of fun creating this...and another 4 koi are inked up, ready for a swim on their respective panels.

To the wonderful team at The Heart Desires: thank you for the fabulous year of challenges!  Such an inviting, inspiring place to play (and the shop? Only awesome!!).

Also sharing at Muse Challenge #227~Anything Goes (how cool is that!!).

Thank you for dropping in; your visit brightened my day!

  1. Beautiful use of that color palette, Carol. That koi is amazing, and I've been contemplating it since it came out. Sweet pond you've created for him, and I'll bet our friend Geri will love this card. I know I do! We'll have to catch up as I'd love to hear all about your holiday. Bev

  2. Such a striking card. The koi looks wonderful, but that water he's swimming in is gorgeous. Wow!I truly hope you get the moisture you need without the lightning. That is so scary! Been through the smoky yuck resulting from wildfires. Not fun at all! Hugs!!

  3. Hey there pal! Remember me? Geri from Dauphin.....

Life continues to be ca-razy busy (but in a fun way) so am actually sneaking in some commenting time at work (again!).

Your card made be gasp because one of the Koi in our pond is almost IDENTICAL to your pretty little swimmer! Seriously a sweet card - love the fish/ocean theme! Hopefully I will be back to visit again soon. Two more busy weekends, followed by a yurt camping experience in the Duck Mountains and THEN NO MORE SOCIAL COMMITMENTS!!! It's been a fun summer but way too busy for this old soul!

I loved reading about your time in Aitutaki! We were there about 13 years ago & loved it so very much- but I don't remember crabs being everywhere! lol!! We would love to go again- but that plane ride.... sigh!
Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful creation, bringing back some wonderful memories & of course for joining us at The Heart Desires!

  13. This is so gorgeous Carol. I love the colors, love the way the koi and water littles sit on the aperture, and that marbled background is so beautiful.
