Roses Hello...Addicted to Stamps and More #197, Inspired by All the Little Things #18, CAS-ual Fridays #149~Florals

Hello,

Another week has rushed by, which mean I, along with my fabulous DT, invite you to join us for Addicted to Stamps and More Challenge #197

Here's your opportunity to bring out your colouring toys - markers, pencils, crayons, paints, sponges, what-have you - and 'make your mark' on a card/tag/project.  We're sponsored by
who are offering a sweet $12.00 gift certificate to the lucky winner! Incentive, right? Right!

You will sooooooo not guess what I've done for my inspiration card *grin*  First, I drew my design/colours from the vibrant, gorgeous bouquet and dress palette over at Inspired By All the Little Things #18

Second, I hitched up my 'big girl pants' and went full-throttle with using...are you ready...my ZIG MARKERS!  I did so!  Astonishing, right! I've had these for quite a while, have had epic failure after epic failure, but finally...F.I.N.A.L.L.Y...I have a 'something' to show for my efforts (that, and the fact that I need to plant a tree, given how much paper I've recycled over all these trial runs).

My card is not fantastic by any stretch, but....it's an accomplishment!  MFT Background Roses, embossed, coloured with Zigs (I only have 12), a wee (very wee) blending with water, a dark blue background panel, W&W hello and...ta dahhhh! Rather vibrant, but...that's what I was aiming for (I guess *grin*). Whew...not sure when a Zig-venture will happen again (this one was exhausting!), but...we'll see.  More (white only) water-colour paper on my shopping list...

Okay, turning the stage over to you!
How will YOU make YOUR mark?
Looking forward to seeing your gorgeous creations in the gallery!

On another note: for quite a while, I've been using Michael's Recollection #110 card-stock for my card bases and panels. It *was* a nice shade of white, sturdy and solid. Note *was*. Recently, I bought a new package (actually, I'm a dodo..I bought two packages...but I had coupons!), and oh. my. stars! Something has changed! The white is stark - almost a grey/white - and the heavy weight I've so come to rely on seems less so.  Has anyone else noticed the change?  Guess I'll be doing some trips to Michael's whenever we travel...hopefully, the 'good ol' reliable' can be found!

I'm so glad you spent part of your day with me; your visit brings me immense joy!

  3. Well Carol you have made not just a card but an eye catching stunning card. I saw this on Facebook and thought better come check it out more. You have nailed it, I love this background stamp. Tried to get it a few times and it was sold out each time so I ended up buying the IO version, have embossed and now need to colour. You have inspired me, the colour combo is so pretty. Well done

  4. I think you should definitely revisit the Zigs if this card is anything to go by. It is a stunning evocation of summer, gorgeous.
I hate it when a trusted brand changes into something different and not for the better! Good luck tracking down what you want. :)

  8. Oh my goodness gracious, Carol. This is absolutely gorgeous! Methinks you are a bit too hard on yourself when it comes to these pens. The colors in this are stunning! You achieved a wonderful vibrancy. I can almost smell the flowers and they evoke a sense of warmth and sunshine, like a good summer's day. Love this! Oooh, I am so bummed to hear what you shared about your Recollections cardstock. I use the same brand. I'm still working my way through the pack I have, so it may be a while before needing a new one. Hopefully, they'll have corrected any issues. Could it be you got a bad batch? Let's hope!! That card, though...oh my! That should make you smile huge! Hugs!!

  12. Oooh, this is GORGEOUS!! LOVE it!
And you know what?!...I had an older stash of Michael's heavy weight cardstock, which I only use for inside of my stamp sleeves. Ran out and bought another pack and *GASP!* the whites were certainly different! I had to redo all the sleeves that were already done because the different shades of white were enough to drive me crazy! lol I did buy two more packs since then and both are matching to the same as the last one. So I'd say they changed their formula of white...does seem a little grayish/dull. For my cards/etc. I always use PTI. ;)

  13. OMGosh Carol, this is stunning!!!! You did an amazing job with your Zigs! I love that deep red in the center, I haven't been able to achieve that dark red, mustn't have the same color red you do. I hope you use them again soon because you knocked this one out the park! Love, love, love!!! I do not use Michael's care stock, so can't help you there. I would like, but just never had tried it as I don't have a store that close to me. Not far away, but not close enough that I will just run to it. lol Hugs, Brenda

  14. Okay, girl, no more bad mouthing those Zigs. This card is fabulous, terrific, fantastic. Don't know about Michael's cardstock but just a hint when using Zigs. I find bristol board works best for blending them. It's not pure white but if you cover it like you did today it won't matter.

  21. So gorgeous, Carol! You did an amazing job with your Zigs...I'm so proud of you :)
I don't buy Michael's cardstock, but I do love PTI Select White, if you're looking to switch...Also, for my Zigs, I use Strathmore 'Bristol' (bought at Michael's), and have had great results with it. Hope this helps, my friend!

  22. Don't use Michael's paper so have no clue - though I do notice die lots change with some of their coloured paper packs so guess it can happen with their white too :( I didn't notice it at all as all I could see were those stunning flowers!! GOREGEOUS. NO need to worry about the white on this card as it is beautiful border for this card. Maybe use it for the ones you have more watercolouring on and fingers crossed the next die lot is back to normal :)

  29. OMG this is fantastic. What gorgeous flowers. What gorgeous colors! Congrats on the Zig fun. And I have a similar sob story with my local CS (300 gr from Folia) - my latest pack still says 300 gr but I swear it's thinner. Reminds me, I wanted to write a review on amazon...

  30. I'm back! Wanted to let you know that I was intrigued by your report about the cardstock at Micheals. I stopped by last week to check it out. I had a piece of the "old" one with me (need to buy more soon, too), to compare and it's the same here. The new one is a cold, greyish white and I don't like it. Didn't buy it so I don't know if it's lighter, too, but this is frustrating. Btw, the lighter white card stock is the same unpleasant hue. What are we going to do? I liked the price at Michaels...

  37. Oh my goodness Carol. I am just wandering around bogland since I have not done in a long while except for my commenting on AAA entries. Holy smoke, this is gorgeous. And a perfect interpretation on the IBTLT photo. Your Zig coloring looks so beautiful and like you REALLY know what you are doing. Don't give up, just go on from here.
