Flamingo Birthday...CAS(E) this Sketch #171

Hello,

In like a flash to share my card for CAS(E) this Sketch #171

Super simple....maybe too simple?  Even though I am petrified of birds (seriously terrified!), I do have a thing for flamingos...stamp-and-die cut ones, that is!

NOTE: Honoured and thrilled to be selected as a CTS Favourite.  THANK YOU!

Here's a story that adds to my bird phobia: the *ag-grouse-ive* grouse that's been holding hostage the trail that my husband and I so enjoy hiking/biking on (he bikes while I walk as quick as I can to keep up with him....painful!).  Mr. Grouse is seeking a mate, and when people come near his 'love zone,' he responds in full assault mode: wings back, head down and meaning business! I do NOT want to run the risk of being pecked; his feathers are already ruffled enough with his task.  We haven't heard if he's found a missus yet (he really needs to act more like a gentleman!), so no trail wandering for us until we know he's moved on. Scary dude!  And we won't even talk about the hippo-sized ravens....

Anyway...my pink flamingo is very friendly *grin*

Thank you for spending part of your day with me; your visit brings me immense joy!

  2. I'm in tears! Ag-grouse-ive! I guess you can't account for the lady birds' taste.. huh? Hope he moves on soon so you can get a move on, too! As for your card, this bird seems much more appealing that the curmudgeonly grouse! Such a bright and happy design!

  3. Your flamingo is awesome and your 'simple' card is so fabulous Carol! Love the stenciling, so subtle and the sentiment is fabulous. I feel like I know, or maybe even have that one. Now your bird story has me laughing out loud. Not an unusual phobia, my old neighbour wouldn't even come to visit unless I scooted the chickadees that made a home on my porch away!

  4. Pretty Flamingo (song from the sixties) and so is your card (pretty not from the sixties). Your story conjures images in my head of you chasing a bike and a grouse chasing you!! Now I've heard of riding a bike and taking the dog for a walk...but the wife!!!! well that's different!! Back to your card...truly lovely...great stenciling again in the background. Hugs xx

  8. Cute Card-- and there's your basket-weave stencil! Love it! I am a total bird-lover, but h*** no: I don't like to tangle with anything looking for a mate! We have huge ravens here, too... They make a mess, and the neighbor feeds them... I'm not super-amused...

  9. Your flamingo is a wonderful idea for the sketch, Carol! You really nailed it!! I'm so sorry you suffer from ornisphobia. I can't imagine being afraid of birds; I'm just the opposite. I hope you are able to travel the trail again soon unaccosted by the randy grouse!! Hugs, Darnell xxoo

  10. Love your pretty pink flamingo. As funny as both stories sounded birds are scary when they are aggressive & magpie season here can be an absolute nightmare. Hopefully his new lady will keep him in line!

  17. Your flamingo is so pretty in pink, Carol (of course!!) ... fine and wonderfully delicate ... not like that marauding grouse or, even worse, the hippo sized ravens!! Hugs, Anita :)

  18. Fantastic flamingo card, Carol! Your lovely stenciled background sure helps that pretty pink flamingo pop as does those little sprinkly dots. You chose two luscious pink colors, too. I'm so sorry that you were attacked by that ungentlemanly grouse. It's no wonder he might have difficulty finding a mate. Reminds me of the time I was chased by a goose at my good friend's house when I was in elementary school. Shudders. You can bet I always asked if that dang bird was in the pen after that! Hope you have an awesome day! Big hugs to you!!
