The lure of a warm, late summer, sunny day called my husband and I to a gorgeous 20km hike beginning and ending at Takakkaw Falls (one of Canada's highest waterfalls) yesterday. I won't pretend the circuit was easy (my sore legs and back are testament to that!), but oh, how stunning the views are; no matter how many times we've been (and we've been plenty), we are still awe-struck at the spectacular scenery that unfolds before us! The nearly 9 km ascent (yes...ouch!) on windy paths and switchbacks through the forest eventually opens to the Iceline trail, which follows the edge of several glaciers and, for the most part, resembles a 'moonscape'. After crossing this span of rocks, we begin our descent on a trail next to an avalanche path. While descending is always a welcome, this one offers its own navigation challenges in places: steep sections, slippery rocks, jutting roots. The hike, followed by homemade pizza for supper: yes, pretty much a perfect day.
Anyway...physical exercise gave way to creative gymnastics today.
Fall is making its presence known here, with the changing leaves and cooler temperatures, but I gave that no 'never mind' in breaking out my new MFT Penguins in Paradise stamps and dies! I drew inspiration from Mojo Monday #414
and hopefully, the DT and you, will see 'some' connection between the sketch and my interpretation (well, after you stop scratching your head and wondering what the heck....).
Here's my card:
I'm not sure why the "penguin' in the sentiment is wonky but...that's how it came. Oh well....
and here's my translation:
- Penguin = the center square
- The trees = the tag shape (the tree trunks = the pointy ends)
- Blue paper and pink banner = the same elements in the sketch.
- The little beverage = just because it's stinkin' adorable.
I know, I know...but still, it does bear a resemblance...a little bit...maybe...

Wow, lucky you to take a "bit" of a walk and see a gorgeous waterfall at the end of it. Surely worth the aching muscles. Your card is fantastic. That sure is a super cute penguin. Adore the card design. Lots of fun and happiness in this one!
ReplyDeleteAdorable card, Carol. Love how you brought all the various elements together. The penguin in trunks made me chuckle and I was momentarily distracted by your description of the 20km hike. We LOVE hiking too. Our next big project is to do the Pilgrim's Way to Santiago de Compostela - about 200km, hopefully in spring next year.
