Today, a very special post to WELCOME the new DT members over at Addicted to Stamps and More! I'm going to miss those who are leaving: Lee-Anne, Sarah, Sue, Tenia & Karen. Your gifts of creativity and warm support have touched me deeply; you've given me tremendous encouragement to 'carry on' in this sport of ours! On the plus side: I know where to find you in blog land and I'll definitely be visiting! Wishing you the best of luck on wherever your crafting journeys lead!
To the new members: what an honour to be playing alongside you as a member of this team! I look forward to the inspiration you'll be sharing with all of us!
I have, for you today, a welcome card that was inspired by the beautiful cards over at Winnie & Walter, designed by the marvelously creative Gayatri:
Now, the 'purpose' of her cards was to showcase some fabulous stenciling techniques, as you can see in her diagonal and horizontal stenciled lines. Stunning, yes?
Well, I don't have any W&W stripe stencils or small floral stamp images BUT was that going to stop me from being sparked by her inspiration? No sirreee! So...I adapted..
Obviously, I didn't play with her stamping in the stencil and adding black lines technique to the full (alright..I didn't at all!) but I did use a stencil (made with my brand-spanking new Multifaceted Cover Die), the yellow/pink combination (yummy) and black 'outlining'. Gayatri's cards have a 'light, airy' feel to them, which I also tried to mirror. Even though I strayed somewhat a lot, I'm pleased with the result. I hope you, my new team-mates, will like this 'virtual' welcome card! THANK YOU to Gayatri for the inspiration and yep...adding some W&W stencils/masks to my shopping list. That technique is too fabulous not to try 'for real'!
My card is heading to the following galleries:

Winnie and Walter - lined to Gayatri's post as well as to Join in to Win
Thank you so much for dropping by; your visit and comments add sparkle to my day.\!
Hugs,
Stunning card, Carol! I really, really like what you did with the background piece. The colors are soft and lovely. The black flower really pops, but isn't overwhelming. The white sentiment sure adds interest, too. I like the inspiration cards a lot, too, but I think your take on it is gorgeous! :)

ReplyDeleteWell worth the stray into the 'breaking challenge rules just a bit' category! It's call creative licence...so as long as you have a 'licence' all is well! AND...this fabulous card is definitely in line for an award...not a fine! Great stenciled background - love the use of two colors. And....I adore that the wee leaf is sneaking of the paper just a bit!
ReplyDeleteI love it, c... you're rocking that W&W 'stencil' and it couldn't be prettier behind that bold black rose!

What this card is headed for is a trophy, a blue ribbon, praise and acclaim!! IT IS GORGEOUS!!! Such a soft and subtly done background with that sharp, crisp beautiful rose!! Amazing and just such a delight!! So excited to see you create because you are just overwhelming me with your awesome talent!!! Hugs to you!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous card! Thank you so much for a warm welcoming! :)
ReplyDeleteHow lovely of you to welcome all the newbies (and say goodbye to our team mates). Sad to see them go but also nice to have new people and ideas come into the group. I think you did a fantastic job being inspired by Gayatri. She is such an amazing designer and also comes up with incredible ideas. Fab idea to use the multi-faceted die as a stencil and the die-cut rose in black looks so clean against the white. We are so lucky in this community to be able to share and learn from each other, instead of getting all possessive of what we make. I learn something everyday going thru different blogs, although it does mean my shopping list is becoming quite long.......Hope you had a wonderful weekend. We are counting down this week to the end of school term....eeeek!!
ReplyDeleteFabulous! Always loved that sort of die cut flowers.
ReplyDeleteFabulous the colours and details, Carol. LOVE the die cuts.

ReplyDeleteWow! Wow! Wow! I love the inspiration cards, but I am really loving your card Carol! Even though you didn't have the supplies that the inspiration cards used, you did a fabulous job creating your card with the supplies you had. And boy, am I ever in love with it! Hugs, Brenda
