I'm on Day 2 of being on my own-some (my husband's visiting his family, on a much deserved mini-holiday) and yes, I'm missing him, and yes, I have a crafting mess alllllll over the kitchen counter! Cheering the clutter! What I am not cheering, or even bearing the teeniest hint of a grin about, is the snow that's falling. Pretty yes, but c'mon...April showers...s.h.o.w.e.r.s!
And that's my segue into my pair of whimsical cards on parade today, and creating them as a 'flower and shower' pair was not intentional. I made the first one...then found a Verve Rain or Shine stamp set (NBUS...for over a year! Yikes!)...and made a second...
Even though they're both quirky, I drew ideas from sweet, talented Kim, who is our 'inspire-ee' over at TIME OUT #28~CASE with your own twist. Her card: lovely!
Mine...well. certainly not soft, delicate or pastel like hers, but, I do have outlined flowers, similar colours, in bold tones, a sprinkling of leaves and...a black panel (well, part of one) with a white sentiment. Kinda close...*grin*
My second card mimics the first, only with Wink of Stella'ed umbrellas and an embossed sentiment.
The duo...they are rather wild, aren't they? See what happens when my husband leaves? I have no one to say, "ummm...maybe not so much..." Still, I hope they'll make you smile...
In addition to TIME OUT, I'm sharing over at:
AAA Cards #37~Spring Flowers
Off to see what's for dinner...maybe cereal (I so don't cook!). Apparently, my husband's mom is making him a roast beef dinner. 'Nuff said...
Thanks so much for dropping by; your visit and comments add sparkle to my day!
Hugs,
2 fun & festive cards, Carol! He'll be home before you know it & hopefully the snow will be gone for good! Hugs, Greta
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, cereal is my main meal whenever Danny is away...Frosted Mini Wheats...yum yum!
ReplyDeleteWild? Yes...in a wildly fabulous way! Love the colors and love how the curved black bottom portion highlights the embossed sentiments! Stella has provided a lovely 'wet look' shimmer to the umbrellas! Two more awesome cards dear friend!
LOVE all your floating umbrellas! The colours are amazing. Both cards are just delicious!! Thanks so much for playing along at ATCAS xx
ReplyDeleteLove the colours you have used in the flowers and I spy Uniko there!! And those umbrellas are such fun. Thanks for joining TO
ReplyDeleteI just adore both your cards, Carol! Such a fabulous take on my card. I love how you divided the black from white with the wavy die cut. Love the bright colours too. Fantastic! :-)
ReplyDeleteLove these, Carol! So bright and happy. The white on the black just pops!
ReplyDeleteI adore the colors you chose and the bold style of your cards, Carol. They look amazing! I'm happy you are taking the time to spread out and have some fun. While the cat's away and all that. ;) I hope after this storm you'll be done with the snow. It may be heading my way as there is a rain snow mix in the forecast for my neck of the woods...We do need the moisture, but I'd prefer the showers over the white stuff as well. Keep having fun Carol, I like the eyecandy!
ReplyDeleteYour fabulous and colorful cards sure made me smile! Glad you are stamping your own spring even though mother nature sends more winter your way!

ReplyDeleteTwo awesome cards and great take on Time Out and the ATCAS! Is all your snow gone? We have had some rain need more to wash yucky winter away. The trees are budding and the birds are back...come on warmer weather!
ReplyDeleteOh my....love them both! Love the black at the lower portion of your card with the white sentiment, so striking. And your beautiful colored images...so sweet.
ReplyDeleteSimply lovely and adorned with such loveliness!! You wowed me with the first card and then I scrolled down a little more and you about knocked me out of my seat - the umbrellas card is just as gorgeous and amazing as the flower card!! Both are vivid, bright and oh, so amazingly done!! I just love the details and sparkle you have added to these two totally WOW cards!!! So impressed and your styling on them both is so spot on!! Way to go - you are a winner!!!
ReplyDeleteSnow? You have SNOW? Ok, I shouldn't mock you since we almost had to do the easter egg hunt in a snowstorm, too, but still. Today, mid-April, I am still feeling the sunburn I got two days ago because the weather was so beautiful. It's nice right now, but I'm already dreading the 40 degrees in the summer and no AC. Right now, I'm enjoying the flowers, looking similar to the ones you used on your card, and I'm wisely using a sun umbrella now on my balcony, albeit it doesn't come in the fantastic colors you are using on your second card. Love the bold and strong contrast with the black, it makes everything POP! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Carol. I so love both of these cards. Love the black on the bottom with the striking white sentiment. Love the raindrops among the umbrellas and the leaves among the flowers. The colors are wonderful. Thanks so much for linking up and playing along with us at AAA Cards.
ReplyDeleteReally fabulous umbrella card and so perfect for our challenge.
