Well, I've been bitten by a bug; more precisely, the 'stenciling' bug! Seriously, I had no clue stenciling - when I put my mind to it - could be so much fun. Of course, we're talking only basic stenciling/sponging, however, I'm a happy camper just dabbing and blobbing away, excited as a school girl to see the full reveal once done. In comparison to my pathetic, yet persistent, efforts at water-colour, stenciling is, bar none, a zillion times more fun, plus I actually have results to show for my attempts. (Mr. Recycle Bin chows down on the majority of my water-colouring...).
My *beginner* cards are all off to Happy Little Stampers March CAS Challenge~Sponging
My first card was inspired by Jennifer McGuire's ink layering technique. Of course, the key players in all this were my W&W triangle stencil and thanks cutaway, plus a little sparkle-paper butterfly that flitted in...
Heading to Winnie&Walter Join in to Win
My second card, which truly took under 10 minutes to make - uses two Memory Box stencils: Delphinium and Stems
I'm sharing this at As You See It #077~Shades of Purple, who offered us this lovely photo as inspiration and which I replicated fairly literally, and STAMPlorations March Challenge~Stamps and Stencil.
NOTE: Honoured and thrilled to be the As You See It Featured Artist! THANK YOU bunches!!
My final card (for this post anyway *grin*) uses Memory Box Modern sprinkles, a Uniko sentiment and an NBUS butterfly that I didn't even know I had...d-uh!
ShowCASe Your Style #10~Colour Challenge is this card's second destination:
That's a wrap with my trio...and yes, yes indeed, more stenciling and sponging is underway!
Thanks so much for dropping by; your visit and comments add sparkle to my day!
Hugs,
Yes, stencils are fun! I don't know why I don't use mine more often! The triangle card is very cool and graphic, the delphiniums are so soft and pretty, and the big butterfly card is just fabulous with the colorful circle! Keep on stenciling and sponging!

When I just scrolled down before reading, I thought you watercolored those delphiniums. If you can do that with a stencil, then more power to you. All of your stencil work is great and I think you did wonderful job with the coloring for the SCYS challenge.

Always late for the party...You have done an amazing job on Jennifer's technique, Carol! I love how you created your pattern and your die cut sentiment and sparkly butterfly are just perfect! I also love the dreamy effect you created with your Delphinium and Stems, and your butterfly on the last card is the perfect accent for your stenciled circle! You have really out-done yourself here, my friend...I LOVE them all!!!
ReplyDeleteWow!! Way to rock the stencils!! I LOVE the triangle background the best, but all are gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteThese are all fantastic! I love the card with the layering technique. Such a dramatic result for such simplicity! You really go that technique down. The delphinium and stems is just so soft and beautiful. The third card is so wonderful too. I love the sponged circle on and the design within. It looks so good on the stitched panel. The black butterfly looks so crisp against it, and the touch of the silver beads finishes it perfectly! Just awesome work!
