Today, I'm welcoming you to the new Addicted to Stamps and More Challenge #125, with this lovely wreath as our photo inspiration.
For this challenge, I went well beyond my comfort zone in working with a digi from our sponsor, StitchyBear's Digi Outlet. I selected the lovely trio of ornaments image you'll see below and WOW! Talk about not being exactly sure what to do! I 'tried' colouring, but because my computer is el-cheapo, the gamsol was causing issues when I tried to blend. Same with copics, not to mention my ultra-limited colour selection. After plenty of hemming, hawing and yes, all-out-panicking, I stepped back and realized these ornaments are GORGEOUS just as they are! I didn't want to take away from their lines and designs, so I added dots of red stickle for a whisper of colour, and framed them in red and gold, drawn from the bow, along with a green Christmas die cut as a nod to the wreath itself. My photo doesn't do it justice, but in real life, it's quite pretty
Here it is...
Please check out the dazzling creations shared by the rest of the team; leaving them some love would make them extra happy.

So striking, Carol ... your addition of the touch of stickles on the ornaments is perfection ... they need no more! Fabulous! Hugs, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteGreat call dear friend! Like my Baba always said "don't fix something that ain't broke!". The naked simplicity is stunning! A whisper of stickles and the pop of green is all that was needed! Gor-gee-ous!

ReplyDeleteThis looks amazing, I love that digi and u have used it beautifully with those colorful frames :) I will miss working with you :(
ReplyDeleteThe Zentangle design of your ornaments is so pretty ... I agree, they look so fabulous they don't need a lot of colour. The little touches of red stickles is perfect to let the design be the star. Great job using the digis Carol. Loll xx
ReplyDeleteThe ornaments look fabulous on the stitched layers and the sentiment is lovely.
ReplyDeleteThe ornaments are lovely all on their own. As is your card! I was wondering since you mentioned having problems colouring with your Copics if your printer is an ink jet? That would be why you had problems if so. You have to use a laser printer to be able to colour. Just thought I'd mention it. :-). Hugs!
ReplyDeleteWell you decided right! These ornaments are just gorgeous as they are, but I do love your additions of the stickles and the pretty green sentiment makes the whole card pop! Beautiful work my friend! ((Hugs))
ReplyDeleteJaw-dropping, Carol! The choice to leave them but add a bit of Stickles was perfect. Their beauty speaks for themselves. Love this one! Any chance to see the little ones over the holidays? Sure hope so! Bev
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Carol, your card is stunning!! I love those ornaments and I love that you did not color them!! The touch of red stickles is all that was needed, and the gold and red is just so classy with the black images. Yes my friend, you didn't need to panic because you knocked this challenge right out the field!!! Now it is my turn to thank you for your lovely comments on my blog. You always leave me smiling from ear to ear and thinking what a lovely person you are and a lot l ike me too. lol I always look forward to your comments my friend, you are amazing to me! Hugs, Brenda

ReplyDeleteI think you did the great and perfect job! Your card is AWESOME and the Zentangle style give me lots of inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely agree with you, C, the digis are perfect as is. I'd have run into the same snag, I want to color _everything_, but Yay for your ability to restrain yourself and only adding some red highlights. Reminds me to break out my stickles again – now that I've finished all my christmas cards :D Love the stitching on the frames as well, I can't get enough of it and your card has the perfect amount of that :)
ReplyDeleteCarol, you are so right to have left these as they are! I love how you've added bits of color...simply stunning design!
