Crazy hot yesterday, but that didn't daunt my husband from deciding that we should go for a 'walk' after he was done work. While I would have been content (and lazy!) to stay home and swelter, the walk he proposed was too appealing to resist. A half hour drive, give or take, and we were at Johnston's Canyon, where we began our hike along the canyon, passing by the Lower and Upper Falls, enroute to the inkpots at the trail's end. A few photos (these aren't mine - because I'm lousy with pictures, so I found some from the Banff Tourism websites) will speak the thousand words of the beauty that surrounded us as we hiked...
Part of the network of walkways along the canyon's edge
View of the Upper Falls...spectatcular..and yes, we did get 'misted' the water's cascading
force. Refreshing.
One of the inkpots in the foreground, and the view down the valley.
On the way home, we had to avoid cars lined up along the shoulder. Tourists are always fascinated by the wildlife and I certainly share their awe (and maintain a very respectful distance from all things big and four-legged, with teeth, claws and horns), especially when this 'dude' is who they were admiring. Mr. Elk, sporting a mighty impressive set o'antlers.
Beautiful hike...with my husband. Happy sigh.
The scenery around Banff is simply stunning and I never tire of it! God's creation in all it's glory indeed :) How fun to be so close and to be able to enjoy wonderful walks with your hubby in that beauty! Though I would wager he is smitten by your beauty as much as what he sees outdoors :)
ReplyDeleteWow, loving the scenery that you got on your hike Carol! Indeed gorgeous and who can say no to that hike view?!! ReplyDeleteVery impressive Carol. Love photography. That is a very relaxing bit of scenery. It looks like it might have been a bit cooler as well since it is close to the water. - Jim
