When I saw the challenge over at The Card Concept #11: Colour Challenge,
I was completely smitten by Kay's card (on the challenge site as well as here), as I always am. Her clean and layering style is perfection, elegance, class! Not only did the beauty of her card catch my eye, but so too did knowing I had similar products. The outcome is predictable: I *had* to listen to the voice calling, "Case, case..."
Here's my version of Kay's lovely card:
While 'imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery," the reality is that I couldn't add this to The Card Concept challenge. It's too close a copy. I mean, what comments other than "Nice plagiarism, Carol" could I expect? So, I made another card, 'borrowing' Kay's prototype for a different challenge (hint: it starts with "F" and offers both a photo and sketch prompt), and went in a different direction for the card I'm posting here...
The theme for this one is inspired by The Card Concept colours, as well as the cue word over at CASology #97: Bee
Inlaid die cuts all (yes...another butterfly), which makes it...ummmm...clean and layering?
Inside I'll write..."Oh wait, you already are..." I'm planning to give this to our school librarian, just because.
Thanks Kay for your incredible inspiration!! Your talent and creativity are superlative!!
NOTE: So thrilled and honoured that Cindy selected my card as her #1 choice over at The Card Concept! THANK YOU!!!
Thanks so much for dropping by; your visit and comments make my day!
This is gorgeous :) love it

ReplyDeleteOoooh! Looks like great minds think alike - I made my card for this challenge today too! ;) I LOVE this! I'm super impressed with your patience - placing all those little pieces back into the butterfly die cut, not to mention having to cut it all in the first place - it's a winner for me!! ';)
ReplyDeleteYou know I love inlaid die cuts - this is gorgeous! Love how you've combined the two challenges! Thanks so much for joining us at CASology and The Card Concept!
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty floral layering, Carol ... and that inlaid butterfly ... wow ... soooo amazing (yep, perfect sentiment!) and stunning! Hugs, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteCarol you crack me up!! I love your CASE card from Kay! You had a different flower which worked so well and even though they looks similar they were different! I'm amazed that you can CASE a card that looks so much like the original. I could never do that in a million years! lol As hard as I try my cards always come out looking less than elegant like the original. So I am loving yours! I also love, love, love that butterfly card!!! So beautiful, so elegant, so CAS! I love the inlaid look of the butterfly and the "be". Or at least it looks like the "be" might be inlaid. You did good with this challenge, but then again you do good with them all! lol Wow, that's a long time to get an order, not sure how you are able to wait that long. lol Yeah, patience isn't my best virtue I'm sad to say. Hope you are having a fabulous Sunday Carol! Hugs, Brenda

I love your
Two stunning cards pal! Personally, I think CASEing someone's card is likely the best compliment you can pay them, especially when you have acknowledge the creator of the original design, as you have in your post!
ReplyDeleteFabulous colors and layering in the first card! The bit of polka dot paper is PERFECT with the note book die! I'm sure that Kay would be pleased that you were so inspired by her card!
