I accomplished a mission today: creating cards using stamps that have won over my heart!! Just after Christmas, the ever-talented, sparkling and delightful Bev, over at Uniko Studio, had a sale. A most excellent sale. An inviting sale. A tempting, too good to resist sale. So, I didn't resist, especially since I knew how awesome Bev's stamps are, having used her Peace on Earth set several times over the Christmas season.
My order arrived, and I swooned for quite a while, but because the Valentine-athon appeared, I didn't have a chance to do more than gaze at and admire my new family members. This week, however, oh this week...a different story. My Uniko products and I have been developing a relationship, and I, for one, am in love!! I'm smugly pleased with myself for the choices I made back then (and *ahem*, the new ones I made today...resisting? Over-rated!!). Of course, I still need time and practice to do them full justice, but I've made a start.
I have a set of cards nearly done, that I'll share, later. Today's duo, however, are first dabbles with my new butterflies, and I'm entering them into the Uniko Studio Challenge #6, where we were inspired by Gayatri's 'so many possibilities' sketch:
I went with simple, because the butterflies are lovely all on their own. One one card, I used mini rhinestones to fulfill the 'star' portion of the sketch; on the other, sequins (I was feeling 'red' today...). Apologies for the wonky lighting on the photos as our daylight has been cloudy of late. Added to that: I'm such a slowpoke at doing the 'make-and-photograph-immediately process that by the time I remember to bring out my camera, evening has made an appearance. Organization needed at my house, so if you have any to spare...send my way.
My cards:
Bev, your stamps and dies are AWESOME! Love them x 1000000!!
Oh yes, before I sign off a quick share about a new challenge that made its debut yesterday, and the focus: BUTTERFLIES! The sweet and funny Mrs. A (aka Valery Anne) is the hostess of Butterfly Challenges (love her clarity!), and I know she'd be thrilled to bits and pieces if you shared your butterfly creations on her site. Challenge #1: butterflies and flowers. I'm totally planning to play, because I have Uniko flowers, too!
Thanks so much for dropping by; your visit and comments make by day!!

Delightful, delicious, delectable, Carol ... perfect partnerships of patterned paper, beautiful butterflies and bling! Looking forward to seeing the results of your 'getting to know you better' parties with your stamps! Hugs, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful butterfly creations, Carol! I think your blue one with the pretty flower paper is my favorite and it will be perfect to enter in Mrs. A.'s new challenge! How fun for you to have all those new NBUS goodies to play with and break in!! Happy Valentine's Day! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteOoooooh these are both so pretty Carol! I have to agree with you, these butterflies are just beautiful! I love the stitched mat over the patterned paper too! Lovely work! Happy Valentines day! :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards Carol! You have brought the butterfly stamp to life with the vibrant colors in the background paper! I love the pearls that you added to the blue butterfly - works so well with the softer colors in this card. The notebook edge on the orange card is perfect too - a totally different feel to this card with the playful color scheme!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful Carol...simply beautiful. Your butterflies are so sweet and I really love how you trimmed the side edge of your cards, so creative and fun! And all your sweet sequins and bling, just the perfect way to finish off these beauties!
