A Cupcake Fantastic Birthday...Freshly Made Sketches #182, Simon Says Wednesday Challenge~Make Your Own Background, Seize the Birthday~Anything Goes

Hello once again,

I made - or more appropriately, I 'tried' to make - a few cards today...and Mr. Recycle ate most of them. Why? Because once again I was messing around with striving, in vain, to create water-colour backgrounds. Does. not. work. for. me!  On the plus side, I went back to my stamps and dies, and created a little sweet something for Freshly Make Sketches #182
Another card for my sister-in-law's kids' birthday cards' stash...

I'm also entering the galleries at:

So nice to have my husband back home. He's making roast chicken...yummm!

Wishing you a wonderful Sunday evening and THANKS so much for dropping by! Your visit and comments add sparkle to my day!
Hugs,

Oh, Carol, I know your frustration!! I feel it myself when it comes to certain techniques. I know I'm not blessed with the ability to watercolor well either. It's enough to make you want to throw things isn't it?! How smart of you to not wallow in it and go to what makes you happy. This card is very smile inducing! Love those cupcakes with the neato-bandito gingham frosting! The sentiment is bold and festive. Very well done! Thanks for sharing and I'll bet that chicken was delicious, especially since your hubby did the work! :)

I, too, understand your frustration with trying new techniques! I often say I'm going to just take a picture of my waste can in my craft room, post it and say "Hey, I tried!". However, you successfully made a really pretty card, and your handmade DSP looks wonderful! Thanks for sharing with us at Freshly Made Sketches!

Good to make yourself feel better with what you do so wonderfully. This card is adorable. Love the colors - love the one die cut cupcake and the sentiment is marvelous!

Love all those bright cupcakes. Hate when something doesn't work out, especially when there is a lot of time involved with it. Your final product is delightful so take comfort in that :)

cupcakes on a card are always great! Love how you have one "popped" up for added eye appeal and dimension! thanks for joining us at Seize the Birthday!

Grrrrrr......Blogger just ate my comment! Hate it when that happens!

I think I said that when you can create total sweetness (like this card) with some pretty colored inks and a cute stamp....who needs watercolor?

I also remember hearing a bit of frustration in your early stamping days...and look at you go now girl! I strongly suspect that you will have the watercolor technique down pat very soon and will be sharing some stunning creations with us!

Yummy colors, Carol, and that one cupcake popped up really draws your eye in. Don't worry about the watercoloring. It will come. I'd love to see some of your rejects. They probably aren't as bad as you think.

Just keep practicing! One day it will all just work. It's just practice. :) Your card is so sweet and happy! I just love how you've popped up the one cupcake too. So cute!

I feel your pain when it comes to water color backgrounds...I can't seem to get it right either :( But...I LOVE your charming cupcakes that seem to be falling from the sky! Great color combo and I love your bold sentiment!
I'm so for my late post...I hope you enjoyed having your hubby back home, and that the roast was fabulous!

Yummy cupcakes, Carol ... this is so sweet! Keep playing with the watercolours, my friend ... sometimes just playing rather than making a card with a technique works a treat! Hugs, Anita :)
